The Drakensberg Battlefields area offers a great destination for the outdoor enthusiast. For example, some amazing hiking to suite all levels of fitness.  Basically, the region stretches over a vast expanse and divided into a northern, central and southern region.  Visiting the Drakensberg is not only about the mountain hiking as there is loads to do for all interests from horse-riding in the mountains, visiting local crafters and even just relaxing and absorbing clean, crisp mountain air!

History of Drakensberg Battlefields

Furthermore, the Battlefields in the Drakensberg area takes any visitor a step back in history.  Because talented raconteurs take you back to a by-gone era reliving the dramatic Zulu vs British wars. Sit and listen on the very grounds that the drama unfolded.  However the Battlefields are not only about history. Overall, the areas are beautiful offering a great stay for any outdoor enthusiast. Even if you not a history lover we do however recommend trying out at least one tour as you might find yourself being absorbed by the fascinating tales of the Zulu wars. Cape Town
