Near Durban, the Natal coastline offers amazing stretches of beaches. I.e the popular and busy areas of Umhlanga which is a popular holiday area. Basically, the coast stretches north through to Mozambique offering a warm Indian Ocean with white sandy beaches. Furthermore, from the St. Lucia area all the way through to Kosi Bay you are spoilt with kilometers of beach and in some areas, even in the busy season, these beaches are quiet. The area also offers some of South Africa’s best snorkelling and deep sea diving.
Furthermore, nearby Durban there is the big five game area of Hluhluwe. The reserve is made up of many game reserves offering excellent safari experiences. Hence, the Umfolozi-Hluhluwe Game Reserve is well worth a visit. As well as in the Kruger, you can self-drive in the park. However, you can also join up with a guided game drive in an open vehicle. You can experience close up elephant encounters along with visiting some great wildlife sanctuaries if you have less time. St. Lucia offers a great ‘hippo/croc’ boat excursion on the estuary, definitely an ideal way to end the day with a sundowner cruise. a sample for a great Durban safari and beach holiday is our Bush & Beach itinerary.
