South Africa is an all year round destination with the popular months to travel being from October through to April. Nevertheless, when to go is a good question. The vast size of the country and diversity of landscapes divides the country into two very distinct climate regions. The best time to travel to South Africa is March to May and August to October. Ideal climate, pleasant temperatures and cooling at night and not so hot.  However, for the Garden Route we recommend the months of November to March.

When to go to the Cape region? The Cape has a distinct winter season from May through to August and whilst you can expect a few days of rain there are many mild sunny days between this and being a quieter time of year you do benefit from great price deals too.

However during these winter months, the northern Kruger, Madikwe and Natal regions boast 25+ degrees and this is a prime time for game viewing when the bush is less thick.  The best news is that many of the safari lodges do also offer low season specials, so unlike the rest of Africa that is in a high season, you can expect to enjoy top class game viewing at reduced prices!

So in summary, you can really follow the sun all year round when planning a holiday to South Africa. Have a look at our sample itineraries, to get an idea of what we offer
