An adventure for all of the family, we have tailored this to be the perfect way for families who want to see the highlights of the country, keep busy and have a variety of activities thrown in!
Arriving in Mexico City, you can take in the cultural sights of Mexico City and nearby ruins at Teotihuacan, Frida’s Blue House, spend a day at the Xochimilco canals, “the Venice of Mexico,” on one of it’s its colourful trajineras (tourist boats), eating Mexican food and being serenaded by mariachi bands. You might want to go and catch the Lucha Libre (Mexican Wrestling!) and buy a mask as a souvenir.
You’ll then fly to Caribbean coast. From here you have a base to relax. You can also decide if you’d like to rent a car and do this self drive or we can provide you transfers. Get ready to immerse yourself in the amazing history of the country spending days feeling like Indiana Jones and exploring jungle and ruins. You can and mix in some time to cool off in magical cenotes – underground sink holes which have to be seen to be believed! Here you can visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World: Chichen Itza and the more remote ruins of Coba (which you can climb!)
For some extra nature: you can visit Sian Ka’an Reef to Snorkel and float on your back trough in a Mayan Canal. You can also head to the Punta Laguna Nature Reserve to go zip-linning and spot monkeys.
The last stop on your adventure will be Laguna Bacalar, the lagoon of 7 colours.
Today you arrive in Mexico City and you are transferred to your hotel.
Today you can visit Frida’s Blue House and museum. We suggest doing this in the morning to beat the queues! This is a beautiful area to walk around and explore, perhaps grabbing lunch in the square.
Later you can visit the Xochimilco canals, “the Venice of Mexico,” on one of it’s its colorful trajineras (tourist boats), eating Mexican food and being serenaded by mariachi bands.
Depending on which day you are in Mexico City, you might want to go and catch the Lucha Libre (Mexican Wrestling!) and buy a mask as a souvenir.
Today we will depart to the Archeological site of Teotihuacan where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the area from the top of the pyramids (or a hot air balloon if that takes your fancy!); later discover the world famous Guadalupe Shrine. In the afternoon enjoy free time or a City Tour visiting National Palace, Zocalo Square, Metropolitan Cathedral, and the Anthropology Museum.
Today you fly to Cancun and are then transferred to your hotel, or, if you are opting to hire a car, then you can pick this up at the airport. You’ll then be transferred to your hotel in Akumal.
A day of exploring cenotes! Cenotes (which feel like something out of a movie!) are swimming holes formed naturally by the collapse of porous limestone bedrock, this creates of underground water pools. The Mayans revered cenotes because they were a source of water in dry time and cenotes means ‘sacred well’.
At sunrise you can skip the crowds and visit the most important
Mayan ruins of the Yucatan Peninsula: Chichen Itza, known also as
“One of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World”.
Chichen Itza was one of the greatest Mayan centers of the Yucatan. It is one of the most important examples of the Mayan – Toltec civilization in the Yucatan.
Today you will visit Tulum Mayan Port City Ruins, which sit overlooking the white sand beach and crystal clear blues waters of Tulum beach. You can then bathe in the Caribbean sea to cool off.
Today you can visit (and climb should you like!) the Coba ruins and then later, if you’d like to you can head towards the Punta Laguna Nature Reserve to go zip lining and spot monkeys, This natural protected area is almost the size of 10,000 football fields!
After breakfast you will head to Laguna Bacalar, the second largest lake in Mexico. It is known as “the lagoon of 7 colours”, thanks to the different tonalities of blue and green that it has, which vary depending on the depth. Here you can enjoy a couple of days – going out on boats, kayaks etc.
Today you can take a catamaran tour. These excursions are carried out by catamaran so as not to impact the ecosystem of the lagoon, which is very fragile. Your guide can take you to the most hidden places in the lagoon, and you can travel a total of 17 km. You can discover a 170-metre deep cenote and snorkel to observe the mangroves and roots underneath the water.
Day at leisure.
Today you travel home, with bronzed skin and full of memories and stories.
