Expenses
Meal prices in Mexico can vary, depending on whether you are choosing to eat local or at fine dining restaurants and which area you are in. If you’re on a budget you can eat local food, for example at Taquerías (Taco stands) for about £10 per day. Breakfast prices are usually a little cheaper than lunch or dinner, depending on whether you are choosing to eat local or at fine dining restaurants. Equally a slap up meal can cost the same as anywhere in Europe.
A bottle of beer in a lower budget restaurant is about £1, equally an airport beer at Cancun could be £5.
Tipping Guide
Restaurants: Service is not included in all restaurants (this may vary), it is customary to tip 10% to-20% of the total bill. Bars: It’s acceptable to tip 10 to 20 pesos per drink/10% – 15% of the total bill.
Vaccinations
You should ensure that you are up to date on routine vaccinations before you travel. Visit your GP in good time before you travel to get up to date information about vaccinations and travel risks. Make sure you take out a comprehensive travel insurance with a good accident policy.
