Today you will visit Tulum Mayan Port City Ruins, which sit overlooking the white sand beach and crystal clear blues waters of Tulum beach. You can then head to bathe in the Caribbean sea.
Later you can jump in a refreshing cenote to cool off. Cenotes (which feel like something out of a movie!) and are swimming holes formed naturally by the collapse of porous limestone bedrock, this creates of underground water pools. The Mayans revered cenotes because they were a source of water in dry time and cenotes means ‘sacred well’.
Today you will enjoy the guided tour of the archeological site of Coba. Located in the heart of Mayan Jungle and has the highest pyramid of the area. You can rent bicycles to explore this site to explore it and visit one or all of the three cenotes in Coba. At the end of the visit, you will be transferred to the colonial town of Valladolid, where you will spend the rest of the day and the night in one of the historical centre boutique hotels.
After breakfast you will explore some more of the famous cenotes that surround Valladolid. You’ll return for an evening of exploring the colourful streets of laid-back UNESCO-listed Valladolid.
You can skip the crowds and arriving early to visit the most important
Mayan ruins of the Yucatan Peninsula: Chichen Itza, known also as
“One of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World”.
Chichen Itza was one of the greatest Mayan centers of the Yucatan and most important examples of the Mayan – Toltec civilizations here.
Today you head to the ruins of Ek Balam. After you explore, you will be given bikes to cycle to the cenote used by the Mayans here to cool off. There are also a number of stunning cenotes to spend the rest of the day exploring around Valladolid. Alternatively if you feel you’ve met your quota of ruins you can head to Cenote Dzitnup and Cenote Xkeken or simply explore Valladolid.
After having breakfast at the hotel you will be transferred to stunning Isla Holbox. Isla Holbox, is hands down Fleewinter’s favourite little Caribbean island, here you can relax, soak up the sun and enjoy all of the beach activities this stunning little island has to offer. Or if you prefer, simply do nothing at all. After all of the sites you have seen we certainly think you deserve a little time to chill.
Located north of the peninsula of Yucatan, Holbox island is the perfect place for nature lovers to enjoy tranquility whilst being immersed in an authentic tropical paradise. Here you can rent kayaks and explore the mangroves and delight in the wildlife.
Should you decide, you can also take a ride on a boat tour to discover Isla Pajaros (bird’s island), the Cenote Yalahau (a sinkhole with sweet water) in the Forest and the “Isla Pasion”, romantic and utterly deserted.
The evenings can be spent in the little central square of the island. This is a beautiful island where you can experience an unforgettable sunset.
Today you travel home, with bronzed skin and full of memories and stories.
