Next, venture to the rugged beauty of the Cederberg Mountains. Discover ancient rock art, hike through breathtaking landscapes, and indulge in stargazing beneath pristine night skies.

Continue your exploration in Franschhoek, a charming town nestled in the Cape Winelands. Sample world-class wines at award-winning vineyards, savor gourmet cuisine at renowned restaurants, and stroll along quaint streets lined with historic Cape Dutch architecture.

Travel onwards to Swellendam, South Africa’s third-oldest town. Where rolling farmlands and majestic mountains create a picturesque backdrop. Explore local museums, hike in the Marloth Nature Reserve, and unwind in the tranquility of this idyllic setting.

Day 1 - Welcome to Cape Town

Upon arrival in Cape Town you drive to your accommodation and check in.

Depending on your arrival time, you can start exploring…

The Waterfront is great after an overnight flight. Spend the afternoon at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Enjoy shopping, dining, and maybe take a sunset cruise.

3 overnights at Three Boutique Hotel on a Bed & Breakfast Basis

Day 2 - Time to explore

For example on a clear day, I would recommend to start early and take the cable car or hike up Table Mountain for breath-taking views of the city and coastline.

After descending Table Mountain, visit Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, known for its diverse flora and scenic landscapes.

A Cape Town City Centre stroll to visit Greenmarket Square, and explore the colourful streets of Bo-Kaap could be an option too.

Day 3 - More time for sightseeing

Some ideas for more sightseeing today are:

Cape Peninsula Tour: Drive along the scenic coastal route to Cape Point, stopping at Hout Bay, Chapman’s Peak Drive, Boulders Beach (home to African penguins), and Cape Point itself.

Optional: Visit Cape Point Vineyards for wine tasting with a view.

 

Robben Island Tour: Take a ferry to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. Explore the island and learn about its history.

Day 4 - The Cederberg Mountains

Today a 2-3 hours drive will take you to Cederberg.

Depending on arrival time, embark on a short hike in the area to stretch your legs and enjoy the scenery.

The Cederberg Mountains captivate with their rugged majesty, revealing ancient sandstone formations that transform the horizon into a breathtaking panorama. Shrouded in fynbos and dotted with wildflowers, these peaks exude a serene majesty. The colors of sunset dance on their slopes, painting a picture of nature’s timeless appeal.

Day 5 - Rooibos farm tour

After breakfast you can participate in one of the scheduled excursions offered for the day. This could include a guided rooibos farm tour or a walk in the Cederberg Wilderness Reserve. Return to the accommodation for lunch.

In the afternoon you can take advantage of the complimentary e-Bikes or mountain bikes available and explore the farm trails or nearby areas.

Enjoy complimentary star-gazing in the evening.

Day 6 - Rock Art

Enjoy a full day excursion into the Cederberg. This could involve exploring rock art sites, hiking trails, or engaging in guided activities depending on the season.

Enjoy a picnic lunch provided during the excursion.

After lunch you continue with the planned activities for the day, which might include more exploration, guided walks, or mountain biking.

Return to Cederberg Ridge in the late afternoon. Time to relax and unwind with a sundowner walk or other available activities.

Day 7 - The Winelands

Take your time driving back to the Winelands, stopping at any points of interest along the way.

For example Citrusdal, situated on the Olifants River and is known for its citrus fruit orchards. It’s a pleasant stop along the way with opportunities for fruit picking (in season) and exploring the surrounding countryside.

Or:

Darling, this charming town is famous for being the home of South African satirist Pieter-Dirk Uys and the Evita se Perron theatre. It’s a great place to stop for lunch and explore the local art galleries, cafes, and shops.

Riebeek Valley, nestled between the Cederberg Mountains and the Swartland, Riebeek Valley is known for its scenic beauty, wine estates, and olive farms. It’s a lovely area to explore and perhaps enjoy some wine tasting or olive oil tasting.

Day 8 - The Wine Tram

Today it is time to hop on the Wine Tram for some wine tastings.

The Franschhoek Wine Tram offers a unique way to explore the picturesque wine region of Franschhoek, South Africa. Visitors can hop on and off at various wine estates to taste wines and enjoy the stunning scenery. The tram route passes through vineyards, mountains, and historic villages, offering a memorable experience.

Day 9-10 - Swellendam

Embarking from picturesque Franschhoek, the road trip to Swellendam unveils a tapestry of South African landscapes. Departing the charming wine region, vineyards give way to rolling hills adorned with fynbos, leading into the heart of the Overberg. Along the journey, quaint towns like Robertson and Bonnievale offer respite, their historic charm inviting exploration. As the journey progresses, the landscape transforms into rugged beauty, with the Langeberg Mountains framing the horizon, ultimately culminating in the tranquil allure of Swellendam’s rural ambiance.

Day 11 - Oudtshoorn

Day 13 - Knysna

Leaving Oudtshoorn, the route to Knysna unveils a scenic odyssey through South Africa’s Garden Route. Winding alongside lush forests and shimmering lakes, the journey boasts panoramic views of coastal splendor.

Upon reaching Knysna in the afternoon, you can indulge in a myriad of activities. From leisurely walks along the waterfront to exploring the bustling markets, Knysna offers an array of experiences. For adventure-seekers, a sunset cruise on the lagoon or a hike in the nearby forests promises unforgettable moments amidst nature’s bounty.

Day 14 - Explore Knysna

In and around Knysna, there’s an abundance of activities to captivate every traveler. Explore the charming town center with its quaint shops and vibrant markets. Day 15 - Time to say goodbye

As the sun rises over Knysna, it’s time to bid farewell to its scenic beauty. Driving to George, the gateway to the Garden Route, you step on an internal flight back to Cape Town, to connect with your flight back home.
