Your Itinerary

Day 1 -

Upon arrival, you will have a transfer to Lipica. Here you will check in at Hotel Maestoso. After you settled in, you will meet your guides and the horse and go on your first afternoon ride through the ‘Living Karst Museum’.

Day 2 -

After breakfast you will meet at the stables for an exciting ride on these magical horses. Experience their strength and kindness while riding up to hill Kokoska, it levels 670 m above the sea.The ride will follow the edge of the karst, overlooking the Gulf of Trieste. You will stop at a charming little hut where the horses can have a rest, while you walk the last meters by foot and be rewarded with a breath-taking view of the Adriatic Sea.

In the afternoon you have time for a carriage ride

Day 3 -

Today, your guides will take you on a ride through the Rosandra Valley. One of the landscapes most cherished by Trieste residents and for centuries this valley was the route to the sea from the Karst plateau. Back for lunch at Maestoso and the afternoon you have time to explore the property by foot or on e-bike.

Day 4 -

After breakfast it is time to say goodbye.

The horses on riding holidays work hard week after week and even with regular breaks and good tack it is hard work for them, therefore the maximum weight is 187lb (85kg). Though an experienced rider, who may exceed the weight limit, may ride very light on the horse’s back. So, please do check with us first.

This equestrian short-break is a great opportunity to escape the city for a few days. In other words, free the mind and find the soul and enjoy nature at its best …. On the back of a beautiful Lipizzaner horse! For example, explore lavender fields, Karst landscapes and Slovenian wine. Enjoy breath-taking views of the Adriatic Sea on one of the rides. The Lipica stud farm will enchant you with its magical white horses and black foals. Enjoy a carriage ride and the shows offered on the premises. You can watch a training session or take an e-bike and explore the property. Hotel Maestoso is the best place to ride, relax and enjoy an equestrian short-break.

The stud farm

Every morning hundreds of white Lipizzan horses gallop right past you. A must see, as it is an unforgettable experience! On site there is a lot to see and do. First of all there is a carriage and culinary museum. Take a carriage ride on the 300 hectares of green. Enjoy a guided walk among 300 Lipizzan horses. For those who love dressage, lessons are offered. But, also for the unsure ones, a lesson will be very helpful, before you ride out into the karst. Pony riding is offered for the younger ones.

The green Lipica estate now offers electric bicycles. For this reason, this trip is also nice for the accompanying non-rider, as you can meet up at most of the sights. Equestrian sport events can be experienced throughout the year. For instance, the Picnic Festival with its relaxed atmosphere, is a great experience for young and old.
