São Paulo is often overlooked by tourists and this is somewhat understandable. It is one of the world’s biggest metropolis and this can put off most holidaymakers to Brazil. However, there are some good reasons to visit. It is a very innovative city and offers plenty of opportunities to art lovers. And if you are a foodie, then a break in Sampa (as the locals call it), is a must as here you will find some of the top 50 best restaurants in the world.

And if you are still not convinced, bear in mind that south of São Paulo there are some of the best hidden gems in Brazil. Places with pristine nature, amazing sandy beaches and world renowned luxury resorts. Places like the Serra Geral mountain range in Santa Caterina state will leave you in awe with its majestic beauty. You will relax and bathe in one of the world’s most beautiful bay in Praia da Rosa, surrounded by hills and lush Atlantic forest. And exclusive resorts like Ponta dos Ganchos will pamper and spoil you.

Hotels in São Paulo can be quite corporate but there are some boutique properties just outside the city where you can find a corner of peace within easy reach of the big metropolis. And in southern Brazil, cosy accommodation, mountain lodges and charming beachfront pousadas are aplenty as well as super luxury hotels.
