Arguably one of the most iconic cities in the world, it captivates its visitors thanks to its natural beauty and charismatic culture. Most accommodation options are found by two of its most famous beaches, Copacabana and Ipanema.

The former is probably more popular and this makes it quite busy, whereas Ipanema is less touristic and more upmarket. Hotels are generally scattered along the beaches’ length and cater to all budgets. You will find good value for money 3* properties to super luxury iconic brands like the Belmond Copacabana Palace. Boutique style hotels are hard to find here, however, we have discover some little gems, especially on Ipanema.

Nonetheless, if a boutique hotel is what you want, the historic neighbourhood of Santa Teresa is your perfect destination. If you can forgo the option of staying by the beach, we find that Santa Teresa is the perfect place to marry a comfortable boutique stay to the perfect base to explore the Marvellous City.
