On the banks of the Serra Geral National Park, in Canyon Churriado, just south of Santa Catarina, is the Costão da Fortaleza Lodge, surrounded by forested mountains and set amidst tropical gardens. Here the natural beauty is framed by the unique geology that forms the magnificent cracks in the escarpments of the Serra Geral - the great canyons of southern Brazil. The lodge has been carefully thought out to provide maximum comfort and warmth, whilst caring for our greatest asset - nature. The Green Building, a communal space, was built using well-known concepts of bioconstruction: green roof and walls, which guarantee a pleasant temperature and sound insulation in the internal environment. It is where guests meet, whether to chat on the covered pergola, watch TV, snuggle up in the living room around the fireplace on cold days, tasting good wine or craft beer, or to interact and enjoy a pool table, card game, books. The access path to the building is surrounded by gardens lovingly planned by the owners, where a fountain refers to the geology of the canyons of Aparados da Serra. This simple tribute to a grandiose nature, which manifests such a unique geology, was made to inform guests that this region is a candidate for the Geopark seal earned by Unesco.
The lodge offers only 5 accommodation units to guarantee a unique and personalised experience. There are four rooms and one apartment, perfect for families. The decor creates an atmosphere of tranquility and balance with nature. It brings feelings of peace, hope and health. The construction, made of sandstone blocks, maintains the internal temperature of the building. All rooms have great views of the surrounding nature and come with minibars, flat screen TVs, en-suite bathrooms with amenities and ecological ethanol fireplace.
The onsite restaurant offers a fresh and tasty breakfast in the morning. Preference is given to local and seasonal products, with jams, breads and homemade treats of the lodge’s own production. In addition, you will always find yoghurt, cereals, teas, fruits, cheeses and cold cuts.
