Armação dos Búzios (or more commonly known as Búzios) is a picture perfect resort around 3 hours east of Rio (depending on traffic of course!). It is set on an ocean peninsula and it it renowned as an upscale vacation destination with plenty of beaches to choose from. It is very popular not just with foreign tourists but also with the Cariocas (inhabitants of Rio), so expect it to be very lively on weekends. It became famous to the international audience in the 60s, thanks to French actress Brigitte Bardot and nowadays you will find the eponymous street if you find yourself strolling through the town.
Hotels in Buzios are mainly small boutique properties. Some more upmarket than others of course, but in general all offer charming surroundings, great service and gorgeous settings!
