Due to the outstanding beauty of Sri Lanka’s south coast, Galle has a great collection of luxury villas. Visitors do have to travel to reach these beaches, with transfer times at a minimum of 3 hours from the airport, but once there you can enjoy whale watching, the UNESCO Galle Fort, scuba diving, safe snorkelling bays and some wonderful restaurants.
Continuing along the south coast you reach Mirissa and Weligama, ideal launching points for whale watching and well known for surfing and other water-sports, and further still you reach exquisite Tangalle. Depending where you are along the coast, it’s possible to take day-trips into the low-lying tea country, to the blissful Koggala Lake, and even on safari to see elephants and leopards, all the while keeping your luxury villa as your base.
