Ideally situated 10km from Galle and standing 800ft above sea level Sisindu T has commanding 360 degree views with distant sea views to one side and jungle to the other.

The house which is some 9000 sq ft in area has extensive living and dining areas, a roof terrace ideally situated for sunset drinks, six double bedrooms and a large 53ft x 18ft infinity swimming pool with comfortable loungers and parasols.

Sisindu T is a working tea estate with tropical gardens brimming with exotic flowers and fruit and blessed by a cooling breeze. Words or even photographs cannot do this magnificent property justice. Designed by one of Sri Lanka’s foremost architects, guests can be sure to experience an incredible stay in this beautiful, luxurious property.

Living/Dining Area

The open kitchen and dining area covers 45ft x 27ft featuring a large spacious kitchen area with an impressive sized island (7ft x 15ft) and bar stools. The dining pavillion has open sides and a 16 seat dining table offering an incredible vista that unfolds across the tea plantation, down into the jungle and out towards the Indian Ocean.

A large comfortable seating area is centred around a huge Javanese coffee table with western-style sofas and chairs, taking up one half of the 40ft x 30ft living room. The other end is partially open to the skies with a large tree growing up through the roof in a rock orchid garden.

A verandah is situated to one side of the living room with polished titanium bench sofas furnished with plush cushions surrounded by a fish pond filled with water lilies which looks out to the jungle over the tea plantation. The other side of the living room boasts views towards the sea. There is a terrace with colonial planter’s chairs and 3 cane sofas allowing you to relax looking out at an idyllic sunset view. The far end features steps up to a 15ft x 25ft roof terrace with multi-aspect views and offering yet another ideal spot for sundown drinks and secluded sunworshipping.

Leading off the main central living space are steps down to an air-conditioned 25ft x 15ft tv/study room. This has huge lounging sofas with an extensive library of current dvd’s and boxed sets.

Bedrooms

Down from the study is the Master Suite comprising a huge semi open-air bath room with two showers, basins, loos and a molded stone bath, featuring large natural rocks and flowering shrubs. The “l” shaped air-conditioned master bedroom has a 20ft x 14ft sitting area with sofa, two armchairs and another tv/dvd. The bedroom itself, with a 7ft x 6.6ft bed, has windows to three sides and doors leading out to a verandah and the infinity pool

Bedroom 1 (18ft x 22ft) is air-conditioned and features a 7 x 6ft polished titanium four post bed.There is a day bed molded into a natural rock with writing desk and an en-suite 18ft x 7ft shower room.

Bedroom 2 (18ft x 22ft) has a 7 x 6ft four post bed, is furnished with Ceylonese antiques and has an en-suite 18ft x 7ft shower room with a refurbished pre-war steel bath tub.

Bedroom 3 (18ft x 22ft) has two adjoining single 4 post beds, is well furnished with a comfortable day bed and an en-suite shower room with a delightful open air shower.

Bedroom 4 (13ft x 17ft) is upstairs with a 27 x 9ft balcony overlooking the tea plantation and jungle. Planters chairs and a free-standing bath tub make the most of the balcony, offering outstanding views especially as the sun rises above the tea plantation and the mist melts off the plants. En-suite bathroom.

The Jungle Room (27 x 23ft) is set in the garden with a verandah. This is a self-contained building which features two 6 x 6.5ft double beds, en-suite bathroom and en-suite massage room. Sisindu T is only 15 minutes inland from the beautiful beaches of the Galle Coast. Historic 17th Century Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is only 20 minutes away. The journey from Colombo’s international airport will take about 2.5 hours alternatively you can take the air taxi to nearby Koggala lake.

Sisindu T is comprehensively and generously equipped with top quality furniture and fittings. It is equipped with wi-fi and a Sonos music system.

A chef will be on hand to cook a wide range of Sri Lanka or international dishes upon request or alternatively you can prepare meals yourself. Why not ask for the chef to give you a lesson in Sri Lankan cooking?

There are 7 staff including chef, housekeeper and gardeners dedicated to making your stay enjoyable in all ways.

One by-product of the open air design is that rain does get in, and the lovely looking polished floors when wet can be very slippery. Please take great care.
