From Trincomalee in the north to Arugum Bay in the south, Sri Lanka’s east coast is still largely untouched with just a handful of hotels and guesthouses. This won’t be the case for long however with great surf in Arugum Bay, maritime history in Trincomalee, dolphin watching in Passekudah and snorkeling trips to Pigeon Island. The east coast also benefits from white sand beaches and calm waters, compared the golden sand and energetic seas on the west coasts. The best time to visit is between April and September.
