Two common misconceptions about Marrakech are the distance to the desert and the Atlas Mountains. Trips to the desert are fantastic but you need 3 or 4 days minimum. On the other hand the Atlas Mountains are right on the doorstep and you can be in the foothills 30 minutes from leaving the city. This means it is a genuine weekend destination in its own right and there are some stunning places to stay with beautiful views and lovely walks. Bab Ourika is one of the best…
Arrive at Marrakech airport where your driver will meet you and take you straight to your hotel. Within 30 minutes you enter the mountains and then 20 minutes later you will be at Kasbah Bab Ourika and soaking up the views.
Many people visit the Atlas Mountains just to relax but for those who want exercise, there are a number of trekking trails directly from the Kasbah and trips can be arranged from starting points deeper in the mountains.
However Marrakech is only 45 minutes away and you can arrange a morning’s shopping or sight-seeing or even going out for dinner.
Your driver will collect you for the trip back to the airport and your flight home, assuming you manage to get all your souvenirs and memories within your baggage allowance….
