Where to go in March 2025

By Valeria Garibotti on 20th March, 2024

March is marching on at a grand old pace.

This is a beautiful time of the year – and an especially lovely time to travel.

In Japan, the world-renowned cherry blossoms are in full bloom, it’s the sweet-spot of the year for both the Philippines and the Maldives, and in Barbados the mercury is climbing enthusiastically.

There are so many destinations that are particularly ideal to travel to around now. So just where should be on your radar for March 2025?

Read on to find out…

ARGENTINA

The shoulder season is our favourite time of the year in Argentina, making March the perfect month to travel, with less tourists and cheaper prices.

The country transitions from summer into autumn, the trees start changing colour, creating picture perfect landscapes with hues of red, orange, and yellow. This month calls all photography enthusiasts as the warm light of early autumn will produce simply wonderful images!

In Mendoza you will party at the annual harvest festival and will hike to your heart’s content in Patagonia, whilst the rest of the country is bathed in sunshine.

CHILE

March is the perfect time to visit the whole of Chile.

The Atacama desert is coming out of the Altiplanic winter which can bring heavy rains, Santiago and the wine region enjoy some of the year’s best weather, and down south in Patagonia, tourist number are decreasing, as well as prices, temperatures are still mild and the scenery is dotted by the start of autumnal colours.

It is still high season in Easter Island but this speckle of land is so remote that it never feels too crowded, and if you go towards the end of March, tourist numbers will start to wind down.

PHILIPPINES

To combine the north with the south and really get under the skin of the Philippines, March is the time to go. In the north, you’ll find the jaw-dropping amphitheatre of rice terraces in Banaue are lush and green from late March through May. This makes for beautiful walks and hikes through the Cordillera with bright blue skies and vibrant green landscapes.

In the islands you’ll find plenty of sun, low wind, and clear waters for snorkelling and diving which means it’s high season. We think it’s worth braving the crowds as it’s before the (arguably unpleasant) high heat and humidity of May set in yet far enough into dry season to give the best odds for great weather every day.

JAMAICA

March, graced with minimal rainfall and pleasantly cool temperatures is an ideal time to bask in Jamaica’s breathtaking beaches and myriad outdoor activities.

If you’re seeking an escape amidst the island’s natural wonders and vibrant culture we suggest taking a break from grey skies at home and Lapping the shores of Jamaica

You can also simple choose your favourite activities for this itinerary such as hiking, fishing, boat trips and visiting lagoons and waterfalls!

VIETNAM

March is one of our favourite months for Vietnam touring holidays as the weather is at its best across the long, variable country and all stops are available to you!

All our tours are completely personalised and packed with private trips and experiences, but check out the Grand Tour for some inspiration – it really has it all, from quirky streetfood tours in Hanoi and Saigon, a cruise in Halong Bay, plenty of beach time and countryside exploring too.

MALDIVES

With dry, hot days, March is an ideal time for a sunny and relaxing break in the Maldives. You can expect excellent swimming, snorkelling and diving conditions also, with clear visibility and warm water in the shallows.
While January and February are super-peak times for costs and April brings an increase in humidity, March is a perfect balance between the two – and even more ideal for couples looking for an adult vibe, since school holidays don’t tend to fall in March.
Speak with Carly to choose your perfect resort to call home for a week or so – one of our very favorite for couples and families alike is idyllic Vakkaru.

THE BAHAMAS

The dry season (which does have occasional tropical showers which we think is essential to freshen things up!) spans from December to April, offering endless opportunities for water sports, snorkelling, and diving adventures.

This ecological paradise comprises 700 breathtaking islands, over 2,000 rocks and cays, and boasts some of the clearest water on the planet. Each island offers its own enticing mix of nature, adventure, culture and relaxation. And we an help you decide which is best for you….

ANTIGUA

Antigua has 365 beaches, one for every day of the year and March is the perfect time to explore them. There’s white, rose gold or cotton-candy pink sand.

Known for sailing, it boasts a plethora of water-based activities whether it’s swimming with stingrays for the adventurous, a romantic sunset catamaran, snorkelling to coral reefs, a jet-ski adventure or a day spent exploring Barbuda or an off-shore island.

Or simply sipping on a cocktail at a lively beach bar, or on a deserted beach as you watch pelicans dive for fish.

Visit Kenya and camps

KENYA

March is an ideal time to explore Kenya, offering a myriad of experiences that cater to every traveler’s interests. As the dry season unfolds, the country’s diverse landscapes come to life, making it perfect for wildlife enthusiasts eager to witness the Great Migration in the Maasai Mara National Reserve.

The weather remains pleasantly warm, ideal for embarking on safaris or immersing in the cultural richness of local tribes like the Maasai. Additionally, March marks the start of the lesser-known but equally captivating whale shark season along the coast, inviting adventure seekers to dive into the azure waters of the Indian Ocean.

Whether it’s encountering majestic wildlife or basking in Kenya’s natural beauty, March beckons with endless possibilities for unforgettable experiences.

ANTARCTICA AIR CRUISE

March is the end of the season in Antarctica and it is often overlooked for the fear of missing out on its highlights. Yes if you want to see the penguin baby chicks then you should go in January/February, but be prepared to pay much higher prices for the high season.

In general, there is no bad time to go to Antarctica, every month is spectacular but do bear in mind that the season for expedition cruising in the continent runs from late October to March only.

So forget about FOMO, we think March is one of the best months to go! It is a great time for whale and leopard seals spotting, the start of the wildlife’s hunting season and you will have the most spectacular colours at sunrise and sunset. Prices are much cheaper too, which does help when planning an expedition air-cruise from Chile. We do suggest to plan ahead, cruises can get booked up years in advance, but if you hold your nerve and want to take a risk, you can wait for last minute offers.

JAPAN

Mild weather and plenty of sunshine welcome the cherry blossom season, allowing thousands of cherry trees to start blossoming simultaneously, creating one of the most beautiful and ephemeral natural spectacles in the world. For Japanese people, this moment holds significant cultural importance, signifying renewal, awakening, and symbolizing the ephemeral aspect of all things in life while celebrating the beauty of life.

Japanese families and friends celebrate this special moment of the year by having picnics beneath the delicate canopies. The country transforms into a tapestry of vibrant colors and fragrances, with cherry blossoms leading the way. This ethereal and enchanting atmosphere of delicate blooms paints the country’s landscapes in hues of pink and white, making exploration a magical experience.

This unique natural spectacle attracts locals and foreigners alike, making it the busiest time to travel. Will you encounter many people? Yes. Will it be worth it? Definitely! Our suggestion: Book as early as possible!

BARBADOS

Temperatures begin to rise, averaging 30 degrees Celsius during the daytime, while the refreshing northeast trade winds maintain the most comfortable climate making it ne of the many charms of Barbados in March! Turquoise waters and white powdered beaches await while if you are looking for more action, outdoor adventures abound! from snorkeling in vibrant coral reefs to hiking through lush rainforests, it’s the best way to “shake off” winter.

With its promise of abundant sunshine and balmy temperatures, Barbados is the most idyllic paradise for travelers. So why not you? Indulge in the island’s beauty, embrace its laid-back charm, and create memories that will last a lifetime in this Caribbean paradise.

ST KITTS AND NEVIS

St Kitts and Nevis is a hidden Caribbean gem. For a relaxed holiday off the tourist track, find old-world West Indies charm, distinct from the modern resorts.

March is the perfect time to explore these two islands, separated by a two mile wide channel and offering untouched beaches overlooked by misty mountains, volcanic peaks and charming wildlife.

Unique appeal lies in the experiences: such as exploring the Scenic Railway ‘Sugar Train’ ideal for family time!

TURKS AND CAICOS

Located at the southern tip of the Bahamian Archipelago – Turks and Caicos often goes unnoticed by many travellers – which is why we love it!

Being the dry season, March is the perfect time to visit this collection of sparsely populated, low sand cays which hold some of the planet’s most stunning coral reefs and beaches.

The lifestyle here is relaxed, the local hospitality is sincere, and the diving experience is genuinely extraordinary!
