We are a little bit obsessed with awesome swimming pools, which is why we have been seeking out our favourite ones all around the world (such a hard life!). Having a place to cool off on holiday is a must, so whether it’s state-of-the-art design, a mind-boggling location, a totally unique concept, super luxury, or infinity-edged views; make a splash. Lets check out the best swimming pools in the world!

Our Favourite Swimming Pools!

For Adventurers: Dubu Suite at Kahanda Kanda, Galle, Sri Lanka

Dubu is a stunning carved wooden pavilion with its own private garden and swimming pool! Enjoy sea views from your pool, butler service and sumptuous interiors. The hotel itself is small and intimate, set on a small working tea estate. The British owner and interior designer live onsite, which we attribute to the hotel’s high standards and friendly atmosphere.

For Instagrammers: Pangulasion, Palawan, Philippines

Pangulasion is one of the most luxurious resorts in the Philippines. Located in Palawan, voted the ‘Best Island in the World’ for the last two years; the area is stunning. Limestone cliffs rise from clear aquamarine waters, beaches are lined with fine sand, and friendly Filipinos create a welcoming environment. You can watch the sunrise from one beach and the sunset from another, or you can hide away in your private-pool villa. For Wellness: Castilla Termal Burgo de Osma, Soria, Spain

The jewel of Castilla Termal Burgo de Osma, is its thermal contrast circuit which has been designed to recreate the Mozarb Chapel. Horseshoe arches, steam, sauna, hot and cold pools, are illuminated by lights changing colour every few minutes making this a pretty spectacular experience. The thermal water comes from the Santa Catalina spring, known for its therapeutic and relaxing benefits. For Luxury Seekers: Six Senses Resort, Koh Yao, Thailand

One of Thailand’s most luxurious resorts with 54 villas, each with a private pool and dedicated staff. Before reaching your villa, you’ll go past the resort’s main swimming pool with two sunken bars and stunning views of Phang Nga Bay. Limestone cliffs pierce the sparkling clear waters of the Andaman Sea as far as the eye can see. Sipping a cocktail in this pool as boats flit about below and elegant staff discretely ensure your next cocktail is waiting, feels a bit like being in a movie.

For Nature Lovers: The Hanging Gardens Resort, Ubud, Bali

Our absolute favourite thing about the Hanging Gardens Resort in Ubud, is the bi-level infinity pool, which has been recently awarded the ‘Best Pool In The World’! This contemporary piece of art will leave you speechless. It has been designed to be perfectly integrated into the surrounding natural environment, thanks to an undulating shape that echoes the surrounding terrain and views of the sweeping rice terraces and jungle forest.

For Eco-Warriors: Bambu Indah, Ubud, Bali

While most pools require large amounts of concrete and chemicals, the owners of Bambuh Indah built a sustainable pool without either. Instead, they dug a hole, lined it with high density polyethylene which is recyclable after its 60-year life-cycle, a water flow system, and they used lava stones and a vegetation regeneration zone, which naturally cleanses, filters and oxygenates the water, whilst nurturing the beneficial bacteria.

This creates a natural pool that does not use chlorine, algaecides or cement. The result? A harm-free green pool, surrounded with large, beautiful stones from the mountains, a rope swing for the Tarzans in your family and deck chairs for the princesses! Enjoy this unique pool as nature intended and don’t be afraid if you run into a fish or two…they’re happy to share with you! The pool cleaning is done monthly, on the day of the full moon.
