I met my husband and fell in love whilst living on a yacht, so I am a little biased when it comes to the romance of sailing. There is something very beautiful about watching the sun set over the sea, being wined and dined, exploring coves on a paddleboard for two, swimming with the phosphorescents or sipping champagne from the comfort of your hammock.
If you are looking for a private, unique, and completely luxurious treat for your special occasion then a private yacht holiday may be exactly what you are looking for. Greece takes love very seriously and so do we. Choose August for a hot honeymoon or October for a cosier affair.
Borneo
For some of us, the most romantic holidays are the ones combining adventure, new experiences, a mix of active days and relaxed ones, memorable places to stay, and at least a few nights somewhere absolutely gorgeous. The right trip can be a recipe for falling in love… with a place, a people, a meal, a moment in your life that’s shared with someone you love.
Enter: Borneo. Catch a glimpse of orangutans in the trees, listen for gibbons singing, walk high above the rainforest on a canopy walkway, let guides regale you with legends and show you plants you never knew existed. Malaysia
One of Southeast Asia’s hidden gems, the east coast of Malaysia offers a piece of paradise for a romantic escape without breaking the budget. We love this area for its turtle sanctuaries, villages where life happens at a slower pace, rich marine life making for stunning snorkeling and diving, beaches and hills to walk, seafood-rich food, and some of the best hospitality in the country. There’s even a place to encounter elephants because what’s a visit to Southeast Asia without a little wildlife?
A short flight or four hours drive from Kuala Lumpur, we’re fans of Tanjong Jara. The traditional Malay design imparts an immediate sense of tranquility and the friendly staff offer personalised service from the moment of arrival. Unlike many resorts offering the same level of luxury, a long stay won’t break the bank which is one extra reason so many couples return year after year.
Philippines
Islands are often a go-to for romantic getaways but what if you have different ideas of what those islands should be like? Or you want the island vibe some of the time and a more active one at others? Problem solved: visit multiple islands in the Philippines and mix it up!
Spend time in Bohol looking for tiny tarsiers and checking out the Chocolate Hills, then hop a ferry to Siquijor with its lush waterfalls. Or head for Negros where you can choose between a luxury spa and dive resort or an off-the-beaten-track eco sanctuary. Fancy lighting up your love with bioluminescence under the stars?
If a bit of pampering and barefoot luxury is what you’re after, head for one of the private island resorts of Palawan. Amanpulo and Pangulasian are hard to top, especially for private pool villas.

End with a stay in dreamy Boipeba! It is very laid back, with lush nature and stunning sandy beaches. In low season you might be the only two people on a long stretch of sand! End your day looking at the sun setting over the horizon as the calm waters turn a hue of pink. Oh, so so romantic!
Cayman Islands
If champagne brunch, sunset sails, crystal clear seas, horseback rides in the ocean, snorkeling with stingrays (they say kissing one means seven years of good luck!), and fine dining are your sort of honeymoon, Grand Cayman is waiting for you. The Caribbean Club puts you in just the right spot.
Maldives
For a luxurious, castaway honeymoon filled with snorkeling and romantic dinners, you can’t go wrong with the Maldives. Direct flights? Tick. Vietnam
Lying on a beach for 2 weeks isn’t for everyone. Perhaps for you the first holiday as a married couple combines treating yourself with immersion in another culture? If so, Vietnam might just be the perfect fit. Choose a few stops across the country, a mix of exciting cities, lush countryside and a beach stop (or 2) to create the ideal trip for you – THIS ONE is a great example.
And Vietnam has some simply incredible hotels – exquisite 5* luxury yes, but also beautiful boutiques oozing with local charm and exciting liveaboard cruises too. You’ll end up with a variphed, thrilling couple of weeks exploring and relaxing in equal measure. Perfection!.
South Africa
On a honeymoon in Africa, I am sure you love to have some ‘guests’. What about the Big Five for example?! Nothing more romantic than the tranquillity of the African bush and the sounds of wildlife. A real ‘Out of Africa’ feeling.
Picture this… sipping a G&T, while the sun sets. On the way back to the lodge, a cheetah crosses your way.
