As is often the case with a country’s main attraction, too many hotels have sprung up here without careful consideration and as a result there is a number of very average places to stay. Your visit to Machu Picchu is normally only a one night stay, nevertheless we have dug deep to find some hidden gems that we actually rather like – and think you will too. There is only one hotel located at the entrance of Machu Picchu itself (the Belmond Hotel with a hefty price tag) and all others are located in the nearby town of Aguas Calientes, 25 minutes away from the entrance by bus.
