It’s hard to believe that a country like Uruguay, with a small population, has so many visual artists with great deal of creativity.
From the map of South America, which Joaquin Torres Garcia placed head over heels in 1935 to the present, many liters of painting have run on canvas and papers. The tour begins with an introduction to the Uruguayan contemporary art scene. We will visit the EAC (Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo – www.eac.gub.uy) and the FAC (Contemporary Art Foundation) a collective of artists, whose objective is the dissemination and investigation of contemporary art and ways of thinking.
Depending on availability, we may include an exclusive visit to the Engelman- Ost private art collection. Clara Ost started buying art together with her husband soon after getting married in 1963. The collection is nowadays composed by 3 stories filled with pieces of art that constitute a testimony of the Uruguayan contemporary history. Access to the collection is strictly reduced to those genuinely interested.
The tour also includes di erent visits to the studios of local artists wich will be selected acording to customers’ interest. If time allows, we may visit the “Pension Milan” where we will be able to see the work of di erent emerging local artists gathered in one only venue.
