Exploring Costa Rica

Flights to Costa Rica

British Airways run directly flights between London Gatwick and San José two times a week in the summer season and three times a week in the winter season. Whilst these aren’t daily we can help plan your itinerary around these dates. Direct flight time is under 11 hours.

If the direct flights don’t work with your travel dates it can be an idea to fly direct one way and in-direct the other way.

British Airways offer the only direct flights from the UK. Other popular flight routes from the UK are with; American Airlines, Iberia, Air France, KLM, Iberia and United Airlines. These flights tend to be around 15 1/2 hours with one stop en route for normally around 2 hours.

Costa Rica has a second International airport, Liberia. Flights to Liberia tend to be from London Heathrow and go through North America. Thompson are also launching direct flights from London Gatwick to Liberia in 2019. This a good base for holidays focused on the beaches of the Nicoya Peninsula and North Pacific Coast.

The time zone in Costa Rica is GMT-6

Please note some airlines require a $29 departure tax but these are rarely for flights back to the UK.
