What’s new in Croatia – Summer 2023

By Aislinn O’Neill on 31st August, 2023

Well, what a summer it has been in Croatia. Our clients have lapped up the Lapad Peninsula, found their favourite local wines in Korcula and Istria, walked the longest fortified walls in Europe, kayaked to nearby islands, and ziplined over the stunning canyons. Plus much much more.

Here’s a roundup of some of our latest properties, experiences, and exciting new discoveries enjoyed by our clients in Croatia in 2023, to inspire you for 2024.

Island hopping adventure on a private cruiser

What better way to enjoy time with friends and family than island hopping around the beautiful Dalmatian Coast onboard a luxury 19-cabin private cruiser? And with a tailormade itinerary full of wonderful experiences too!

Our lovely clients celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with 30 of their loved ones at hand-picked locations and with private tours and activities along the way. Some highlights from the trip included morning yoga on deck in secluded bays. E-biking in National Parks. A military tour to Tito’s hideout. A traditional dinner on a farm in the ancient Stari Grad plains, and plenty of fun, laughter, and splashes. Check out our Instagram highlights to see the full experience

“Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I haven’t laughed so much in years, after the Captain’s dinner I am banned from Maracas for life” – Paul, August 2023

Or on a private Gulet

We sourced some beautiful traditional gulets on the Dalmatian Coast, perfect for families and friends who enjoy relaxing, spending time in Europe’s cleanest water, visiting new locations, and eating very well along the way. Ash selflessly flew to Croatia to do just that 🙂 Check out our Instagram highlights to see how she got on and what you can enjoy.

Back on land…

Stay at our newest boutique hotel.

Our newest property is the gloriously chic Hotel Supetar. Once a villa for Dubrovnik’s aristocratic families, it is now a splendid boutique property in Cavtat, Croatia. The 16 double-bedroom property is located a few kilometres from Dubrovnik airport so it’s perfect for a short break in Croatia.

Guests with a keen eye for interiors will note the hallmark stylings of London-based designer Andrew Martin on entry. We love the white stone staircase made of locally sourced stone from the island of Brač, and the colourful art pieces by local artists.

The roof lounge and lower restaurant have prime positions overlooking the main promenade and out to the Adriatic. The bedrooms are colourful and individually designed, and the communal spaces are intimate, stylish and Instagrammable.

Breakfast alone is worth getting on a flight to Croatia. We could happily sit and feast on the buffet and al la carte menu all day – with a combination of classics and traditional local dishes. The pool and gardens are a tranquil boho sanctuary to sleep it off in afterwards.

Embrace our newest tours.

The little-known town of Ston, in the Pelješac Peninsula, has been keeping our clients happy and there are plenty of reasons why.

If asked to name the longest fortified wall in the world, you would probably respond with the Great Wall of China, but did you know the city walls of Ston in Croatia are runner-up?

Our private tour takes you to walk the walls and visit the local salt pans. You also have the option to taste world-class farmed oysters as you set out on a little boat to the local farms and hear about these local delicacies before downing a few with unlimited local sparkling wine. Delicious!

It’s no wonder Ston is a highlight for many of our culture and gastro-loving clients.

“The oyster experience was a highlight of our trip, as was the Captain, Danny”  – Lynda, August 2023

*The local salt festival began at the end of August and runs until 15 September this year, delighting visitors with a unique experience in the region. Read the full details here and contact Ash to experience Ston for yourself.

It’s not too late to experience Croatia this year!

Did you know the City of Zabreb is completely taken over with Christmas spirit in December? Enjoy a tailor-made Advent city break in Zagreb this winter, we will help sprinkle some festive magic along the way.

Croatia

Coffee drinking is the biggest social past-time in Croatia, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a takeaway cup. Croatia’s quality espresso should be enjoyed with friends while watching the world go by. No matter how busy you are there is always time to stop for a cup.” – Ash O’Neill, Croatia Specialist
