More than just a holiday…

Your holiday is much more than just a holiday…

Dear clients and potential clients,

Your holiday is much more than just a holiday.

Fleewinter celebrates its 20th year in 2023 and we still do things very differently to most travel companies.

We are a team of partners and business co-owners rather than just employees and, soon after forming, we decided we wanted to give back to the areas where we arrange trips.

In 2011 we started working with an African-based charity, WeSeeHope and they are now our main partner. Their focus is education and because they are small, close to 100% of what we give gets to the people who need it, rather than be spent on admin and waste as happens with some of the bigger charities.

Together with your help we have raised more than thirty thousand pounds and at the end of last year, I finally managed a much delayed trip to see first-hand how they work – I was astounded by the results they achieve.

In each village WeSeeHope build a pre-school to get the youngsters started on their education journey and also run other programmes – eg to help teenagers find a vocation and create small enterprise groups for adults to increase family income.

Unlike short-term charitable handouts, this “helping hand” approach brings about long-term sustainable change. Just £10 per year is enough to get a household above the poverty line with immeasurable ripple effects through the community.

Every time you book with us we give £5 or £10 from our pockets, and we ask you to match our donation. It is not a large amount but it is making a massive difference with over 1000 children having benefited from the schooling, as well as the other community programmes.

Thank you for your support.

Top Travel Tip

“There are many myths about when is the right time to travel, so It is always best to talk to someone with inside knowledge.  I always visit the Greek islands in the so-called ‘low season’ as there are less crowds and the weather is just as good – sometimes better.  The same goes for Morocco, as people think the summer is too hot – but simply avoid the cities and it is brilliant time to visit.” – Alisdair Luxmoore, Fleewinter Founder, Morocco & Greek Sailing Expert
