Happy South Africa Client Review
Always rewarding to receive back such positive reviews:
I wanted to write and thank you for your help in arranging our wonderful holiday, it really was fantastic. After the initial hiccups, all worked very well. My suitcase caught up with us in Cape Town, so I was able to change my underwear (I know, too much information !!!). The hotel at the airport was confused about our booking, but, in the event, we didn’t need the room, as the taxi driver was already there! Had we paid for it?
All the accomodation was first class, the scenery fantastic and the people so friendly. The safari was brilliant, Arathusa is a superb location and the staff so enthusiastic, particularly our Ranger, Cedric. He was extremely knowledgeable, and always seemed to be the first to find the animals – he got quite emotional when we saw a mother leopard with two 6 week old cubs on the move in open country, and we saw his first cheetahs for 3 months.
I should have taken your advice and booked direct flights, we had another panic transit across Frankfurt airport to get our connection to Heathrow. We just made it, and so did our luggage!!
Anyway, once again thank you for all your help, the cake and bubbly on the train were a surprise for Marion, and the crew insisited on singing “Happy birthday”.
We shall have no hesitation in recommending Fleewinter to our friends, your flexibility and helpfulness were just what we like, and resulted in a “taylor-made” holiday. Only sorry we weren’t able to meet.
All best wishes

Game Census On Horse-Back
I have just returned from attending my second ‘game census’ trip with Ants Bush Homes in the malaria free Waterberg. The trip was 9 days and every day was different. It got off slowly as we helped to count the animals – all on horse-back taking you deep into the reserve. The horses are well trained and there is literally a horse to suite everyone and being on horse-back allows you to really get close to the animals. This year part of the census included an anti-poaching treatment to the rhino horns to make them unfit for human consumption & devalued as an effort to combat the rhino poaching. It was a privilege to be part of this and never did I think that the day would come that I could say that I helped to roll over a rhino!! During the week we also helped to capture sable antelope, eland, giraffe and buffalo. This is one of the few (if only) places that really allows clients to be able to experience hands on wildlife management, speak to the vet who explains what he is doing and help with whatever is needed. And its not all about hard work – you are spoilt too with great food, competent guides and a beautiful game reserve. One of the guests with me commented ‘I feel like I am in the middle of a wildlife documentary’ and that pretty much sums up what the week is about! I can highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys adventure, being outdoors and wanting an opportunity to be involved with some wildlife conservation without having had any formal training. Dates are already released for 2015 – from 31 May till 08 June and it is booking up fast so if you interested do drop us a line. I have already booked my room…

Kruger Direct to Cape Town flights!
Exciting news – the new route between Johannesburg & Cape Town to Skukuza airport has just opened with daily flights. This makes connecting to the game lodges in the Kruger region with Cape Town even easier and much quicker access to the famous Sabi Sands Game Reserve! Do give us a shout if you have not yet planned your South Africa safari holiday!
South Africa Charity Kids Programme
On a recent visit to the Kruger region I had the privilege of visiting the Mafambisa programme in a remote & forgotten area outside the Kruger Park. It was humbling to see how the care givers, who have less than nothing themselves, willingly offer them time, support and care to a small community of around 75 of the most vulnerable children. Most of them are child headed homes or homes where the parents have become slave of alcohol. These ladies offer them a hot meal and guidance and support that is so critical for them to develop into well rounded adults. The grass roots level of this projects helps to empower the ladies and guide them in the basics of applying for ID documents, budgeting and assisting in gaining the much needed help to care for these children. I am very proud that we are supporting such a good cause and knowing that the money we (and you our clients) raise for this goes directly to the benefit of this community.
