This itinerary is the chance to combine a holiday to Argentina and Chile and to explore some of the remotest corners of Patagonia. Places that you would not be able to reach by land.

Are you ready to go from the ‘Paris of Latin America’ to the capital of  the ‘Country of Poets’ via the end of the world. A land of glaciers, remote fjords, pristine forests and outstanding wildlife.

This trip is one for those who appreciate the adventure of the outdoors, and expedition style cruises as much as a beautiful bottle of red and a pulsating ‘milonga’.

You will spend 4 nights on water on board an expedition cruise with daily zodiac outings and 10 nights on land exploring different highlights of Argentina and Chile, including Buenos Aires, Tierra del Fuego, Torres del Paine and Santiago. We have tried and tested this very itinerary and it still ranks as one of our best travelling experiences!

Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Welcome to Buenos Aires!

Welcome to the ‘Paris of Latin America’. Upon arrival at Buenos Aires’ Ezeiza Airport, you will be greeted by one of our English speaking guides who will privately escort you to the boutique hotel in Palermo that we have selected for you. We have nothing planned for the rest of the day so you can get accustomed to your new surroundings.

Day 2 - City tour and evening tango show

Enjoy a small group tour of the city’s highlights! Admire the different sides of the city, from historic San Telmo to the upmarket Recoleta. You can choose to upgrade to a private tour for a more bespoke experience. In the evening, enjoy dinner and a tango show at one of Buenos Aires’ most famous venues! Shared return transfers are included.

Buenos Aires street market

Day 3 - Free day to explore at leisure

Enjoy a day at leisure to explore Argentina’s cosmopolitan capital at your own pace. Maybe you will go back to one of the areas that you discovered on yesterday’s tour or you might want to explore something new. The neighbourhood of Palermo is very charming and boutique, full of small restaurants and boutiques, perfect for lunch and a bit of shopping!

Arakur Hotel Ushuaia

Day 4 - Ready to reach the end of the world?

Of course you are! Time to fly to Ushuaia, the world’s most southerly town! And it does feel like it, you will feel you are at the extremities of the world. Ushuaia is surrounded by wonderful landscapes and it offers plenty of restaurants and bars for your entertainment. We have left this day free as it is a travelling day and all transfers are included on a private basis.

Day 5 - Small group tour to Tierra del Fuego National Park

The spectacular Tierra del Fuego NP is a unique ecosystem. Mountain ranges cross the park dividing into valleys and has forests right by the sea shore. You will also stop at a panoramic viewpoint to admire the famous Beagle channel. This is a tour on foot and you will walk a total of 4.5 km.

Day 6 - Board your expedition cruise!

Board your ship at 6 pm and after a welcoming toast and introduction of captain and crew, you will depart for one of the most remote corners of planet Earth. During the night you will traverse the Beagle Channel and cross from Argentina into Chilean territorial waters. You will see the lights of Ushuaia disappear as you turn into the narrow Murray Channel between Navarino and Hoste islands.

Day 7 - Cape Horn and Wulaia Bay

This is will be one of the most exhilarating days whilst on board the ship! You will visit Cape Horn, set foot on this famous promontory and meet the permanent navy officer who maintains the lighthouse with his family. And if this wasn’t enough, you will also take a trek in the beautiful Wulaia Bay. Truly a day to remember!

Day 8 - A day made for glacier spotting!

Disembark at Pia glacier in the morning and enjoy an easy trek to admire its might. And in the afternoon, sail with the zodiac in between rocky walls until you reach Porter Glacier. You will stop to observe its colours, listen to its sounds and if you are lucky, even witness some calving.

Day 9 - Did anybody ask for more Patagonian glaciers?

Another day of amazing delights for your eyes! Early in the morning, you will sail through the Cockburn Channel and enter Agostini Sound.  From here you will see the glaciers that descend from the middle of the Darwin Mountain Range — some of them reaching the water. You will disembark in the morning to take a walk and in the afternoon you will reach the glaciers with the zodiac.

Day 10 - Penguins! Penguins!

At break of dawn you will set foot on Magdalena island, which houses a distinctive lighthouse and is home to a colony of Magellanic penguins. You will arrive at Punta Arenas in the late morning and after disembarkation, a private car will drive you to Puerto Natales where you will spend 3 nights at the doorstep of Torres del Paine National Park.

Day 11 - Full day tour to Torres del Paine National Park

This spectacular national park cannot be missed whilst in Patagonia! It truly is a work of art by nature. This is full day small group tour that will take you to see its highlights. It is a long day as you will set off early in the morning and will come back in the evening but well worth it. Lunch is also included in a typical Patagonian restaurant.

Day 12 - Free day in Puerto Natales

We thought you might deserve a day at leisure today. Puerto Natales is a lovely and typical Patagonian town. There are plenty of restaurants and bars and you might enjoy a free day to get a feel of what living in southern Patagonia is like.

Day 13 - Fly to Santiago

Time to say goodbye to Patagonia! Today you will fly to Santiago, the cosmopolitan capital of Chile where you will spend your last 2 nights of this amazing adventure! All transfers are included on a private basis and a lovely boutique hotel in a great location in Santiago is included.

Day 14 - City tour of Santiago

Santiago is a very pretty city although not as famous as other capitals in Latin America. Full of history and beautiful architecture, it is a real treasure that needs to be discovered and appreciated. This is a private tour with your own English speaking guide who will take you to the main highlights including San Cristobal hill.

Day 15 - Adios! Hasta pronto!

Time to say goodbye to this corner of the world. So bad holidays have to come to an end but we are sure you will go back home enriched by this amazing experience. It’s not a farewell, just a see you soon!

The private transfer to the airport is included.

The capital of Chile is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city worth spending a few nights in. My favourite places are Lastarria and Bellavista neighbourhood, where you can find plenty of bars, restaurants and boutique shops to keep you entertained, and still close enough to the city's highlights.
Atacama Desert
The Atacama Desert will surely not disappoint you if you are looking for out of this world landscapes! San Pedro de Atacama is the gateway town to this world wonder, and with plenty of desert lodges for all budgets, 3 nights or more in the region are a must!
