PATAGONIA

April in Patagonia ushers in the autumn season, painting the landscapes with a breathtaking palette of reds, yellows, and oranges as the foliage transforms. The weather varies, with mild temperatures during the day and cooler nights, making it an ideal time for outdoor activities like hiking, trekking, and wildlife spotting.

Torres del Paine National Park is a highlight, offering stunning vistas of towering peaks, glaciers, and azure lakes. You can embark on iconic hikes such as the W Trek or the more challenging O Circuit, immersing yourselves in the raw beauty of nature. And if you want a more off the beaten path destination, El Chalten in Argentina is the country’s hiking capital offering wonderful hikes to the Fitz Roy mountain range that are easily accessible from the town itself.

Why not including the lakes district too, where you can be as active as you wish or simply relax by the shores of picture perfect lakes. We suggest do a bit of both. Hike the volcanoes in the Chilean side and walk through ancient forests in Argentina, and if you want a bit of independence, this is the perfect area for self driving.

Wherever your adventure takes you, April also marks the beginning of the quieter tourist season, providing a more tranquil experience amidst nature’s grandeur so it is the perfect time to travel to untamed Patagonia!

ST LUCIA

April is a fantastic month to visit St Lucia; the weather is still fantastic but fewer visitors outside the peak months of December to March mean lower prices, great deals and more of this beautiful lush tropical island to yourselves. The month of April still experiences beautifully clear and warm waters making it ideal for yacht and catamaran excursions and ideal for snorkelling and diving for which St Lucia is renowned. We know of some great quiet hotel beaches where turtles are nesting at this time of year too!

You may experience occasional refreshing showers but to be honest these are very welcome when you’re hiking up one of the famous twin volcanic pitons or along the Tet Paul Nature Trail!

This is also a great Caribbean island if you’re a ‘do-things’ holidayer – check out some of our recommendations on what to do in St Lucia
