North of Ubud, rising suddenly and dramatically into the skyline, is a peaceful volcanic mountain range. This region is a great place for those looking for stunning views of the mountains and of the coastline below, for peace and quiet and fantastic local walks and treks.
Lovina, the most famous of the north coast resorts has a selection of good value places to eat and dolphin watching can be arranged from here in season. Pemuteran on the other hand is a small town conveniently located to enjoy the famous diving and snorkelling spot of Menjangan Island. A little further west is Bali Barat national park which is host to some idyllic lagoons with some of the only white-sand beaches on the north coast.
