The Maldives has everything a beginner – intermediate level diver could dream of.
Busy coral reefs are just moments from the shore and the water is clear and warm all year round. There are incredible numbers of fish but also the big hitters such as whale sharks, turtles and manta rays. Hop on a boat and you can also experience wreck diving and channel diving.
It’s important to choose the right island for your priorities, so do get in touch to discuss this. This sample itinerary is based on a stay at Kuredu, a very busy and active island with lots of facilities and welcoming for all ages.
You can take a PADI certified course such as Open Water or Advanced Open Water courses if you have the time, but this itinerary is based on the Discover Scuba Diving package. This is a great option if you are unsure if you will like diving but want to give it a try, and also perfect if you find yourself more in ‘vacation mode’ and not inclined to take exams when you could be on the beach!
Please take note this is simply a sample itinerary. We can extend the trip, recommend alternative resorts, or make upgrades to the accommodation. Contact Maldives@fleewinter.com for more information, or complete the enquiry form below.
Arrive into Malé Airport after an overnight flight, and transfer by short seaplane to the Lhaviyani Atoll. Keep your camera handy, the aerial shot from the plane is a keeper.
Arrive at Kuredu in time for dinner at one of the 7 restaurants and a sundowner at one of the 7 bars.
Take the time to settle in today, and explore the island. It’s one of the largest in the Maldives so you’ll want to get your bearings.
Grab a snorkel and enjoy a free introductory session with a specialist today, check out the bars and restaurants or simply rest in your comfortable Garden Bungalow.
It’s time for your first of three dives! You’ll start in the calm of the shallow lagoon, but there’s still plenty to see once you get the hang of the equipment.
Head to Sangu Wine Cellar later, to celebrate your first dive with one of 250 wines from their specialist collection.
It’s out to the reef today, keep your eyes peeled for manta rays and turtles.
By night, enjoy some of the regular entertainment on offer at Kuredu including Boduberu cultural dance shows, live band night and movie nights.
Head to another spot on the reef today or even to one of the other beginner dive sites.
Time for the ‘unwind’ portion of your holiday.
Thrill seekers might like to book in some water sports today, but you could also have a round of golf, play some tennis or hit the spa. In the evening, consider the sunset cruise.
Head out for a last snorkelling adventure today, and perhaps try the specialist dining experience ‘Veli’ for your last dinner.
