It is easy to see why Kuredu is one of the most popular destinations for British tourists in the Maldives. In a corner of the world that can feel quite isolated, Kuredu has it all... restaurants, bars, shops, a nightclub and tennis courts. It even offers the only golf club in the Maldives with PGA certified golf Pro. It also has a great dive centre and the largest spa facility in the Maldives. It is perhaps more basic than some of their other resorts, but when it comes to facilities this is arguably the best.

The island has four main restaurants, three a-la-carte restaurants, seven bars and two tea houses. The a-la-carte menus specialise in different cuisine including Japanese at the Far East Restaurant, Mediterranean at Franco's as well as fine fish and meat dishes at The Beach Restaurant. Meanwhile the main restaurants serve a good mix of international and local dishes.

Unusually, the island is ideal for both families and couples as some areas are adult only, while others welcome families. There are three resorts to choose from; the modern O-resort, Sangu Resort over the lagoon and the Sultan Pool Villas in the centre of the island. Amongst these locations there are nine different types of accommodation:

Sultan Pool Villa: Tucked into rich tropical vegetation of the centre of the island, these luxurious one or two-bedroom villas have their own private 4x10 metre swimming pool. The bedroom, which has a separate dressing area, has a four post king size bed in teak wood, a large comfortable lazy chair, dressing table and TV. It has a semi open bath room with twin ceramic counter top wash basins, a walk-in rain shower and a Jacuzzi bath tub. You also have a private cabana at the beach with sun loungers.
Sangan Water Villa: These villas sit on wooden columns in the north-west with private verandas that step down into the lagoon and offer the perfect sunset view. There is a spacious bedroom and sitting area with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, while the bathrooms have walk-in showers and overlook the turquoise lagoon. The Sangu Resort has a bar and restaurant in traditional Maldivian style although guests can still eat in the other main restaurants - Koamas and The 'O' Restaurants with same-day table reservations. No children under the age of 12 can stay here.
Sangu Jacuzzi Beach Villa: These villas line the south-west beach and are just a few steps from the beautiful lagoon. All have a spacious bedroom and sitting area, a furnished verandah, open-air bathrooms with walk-in shower and a garden with a Jacuzzi. Guests are given Sangu Restaurant as their allocated restaurant and also have the option of dining in any other main restaurant with a same-day table reservation.
O-Jacuzzi Beach Villa: These villas have everything that the Sangu Jacuzzi Beach Villas offer but they line the south-east beach. Guests are given 'O' Restaurant as their allocated restaurant and also have the option of dining in any other main restaurant with a same-day table reservation.
Koamas Jacuzzi Beach Villa: Again, just like the above but on the southern beach. Guests are given the Koamas Restaurant as their allocated restaurant and also have the option of dining in any other main restaurant with a same-day table reservation.
O Beach Villa: These villas on the north-east of the island have a spacious bedroom with a sitting area, a terrace, and open-air bathrooms with a walk-in shower. They catch the first rays of the sun rising and host good views of the Kuredu Express, the Lhaviyani Atoll's famed channel. Guests are given the O Restaurant as their allocated restaurant and also have the option of dining in any other main restaurant with a same-day table reservation. No children under the age of 12 can stay here.
Koamas Beach Villa: These villas are similar to the above but are set on the south coast of the island. Guests are given the Koamas Restaurant as their allocated restaurant and also have the option of dining in any other main restaurant with a same-day table reservation. No children under the age of 12 can stay here.
Bonthi Beach Bungalow: Again, similar to the other beach villas but these are suitable to families of all ages. The Bonthi bungalows, which have all been recently refurbished, line the north cost of the island and have nice gardens, they can accommodate a maximum of 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children. Bonthi is their allocated main restaurant and does not have any age restrictions.
Bonthi Garden Bungalows: Set in gardens, just behind the O Beach Villas in the north eastern part of the island, the Garden Bungalows offer the same facilities but can be booked by families of all ages and can accommodate a maximum of 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

Rates for this island are all-inclusive, it is also possible to upgrade to the plus account. The 4* resort is about 80 miles north of the International Airport and 35 minutes by seaplane, which costs about £230 per return trip. There is a minimum 6 night stay requirement.
