Exploring Maldives

When To Go

The Maldives is a year-round destination and enjoys good weather all the time. There are also some seasonal variations from north to south. However, as a general rule:

High Season: December – end February.

The weather is fantastic with lots of sun, very little rain and low humidity. Diving conditions will be clear, the Maldives is at its busiest – and as a result prices are often higher. At Christmas and New Year we often see resorts require minimum stays of 5 – 7 nights. Book ahead where possible for high season so we can help you get the best option for your holiday.

Shoulder Season: November, plus March & April

The weather will continue to be excellent almost all the time – April can actually be very hot, as we build up to storm season. Surfing starts to get popular in March onwards.

Low Season: May – October

Still very warm and often sunny, but there will be some rain and storms do happen too. The best weather at this time is in the north. Great surfing conditions continue in some parts of the Maldives, and on good days this is the best time to snorkel and dive – Manta Rays are especially prevalent from June, and the number of Whale Sharks also increases. Turtles begin to hatch around July as well. This is the time to take advantage of lower prices, and focus on the amazing marine life.
