British Airways run direct flights between London and Malé three times a week – or more – from November to March, and the rest of the year you will have a stopover in Doha or Dubai. There are also flights throughout the year with British Airways from Manchester and Edinburgh, with one stop and flights with other airlines stopping in Istanbul or Dubai. Sri Lankan Airlines is another great option with a brief stop in Colombo or even direct flights at some times of the year. We can plan your itinerary around the flights. Most are overnight flights so you will arrive at your resort in the morning. Direct flight time is around 10 hours.
The time zone in the Maldives is GMT+5. However, ‘island time’ can see your resort follow a different time, usually one hour later. This extends the relaxing evenings.
There are three international airports in the Maldives – most likely you will fly into Velana International Airport which is in Male and is busy with flights, but some of our customers also use Gan International Airport in the Addu Atoll – this connects via Sri Lanka so is a good option for twin-centre holidays.
For resorts reached by seaplane, you must arrive before 15:30 in order to have a daylight transfer to your resort. We can arrange an alternative accommodation for one night if needed, but this is worth keeping in mind when choosing your flights.
We can help book your flights for you and Fleewinter are ATOL protected. We charge a small booking fee for this. If you would prefer to book your flights directly then that is no problem but we are still happy to make suggestions for you and ensure a smooth transfer to your resort.
