Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Jakarta Arrival

On arrival to Jakarta, clear immigration and customs. Exit into the arrival area where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. After checking in, the remainder of the day and evening will be at leisure. Alternatively we will be happy to plan for you a guided tour of Jakarta. Overnight at Kowenta Hotel

Day 2 - Jakarta - Borobudur

After breakfast, meet your guide at the lobby and proceed to transfer to the train station. The train from Jakarta through Java to Yogyakarta is a highlight on its own, watching the stunning landscapes of this island pass you beats flying any day. Yogyakarta is known for being one of the main cultural centres of the country as well as the centre of education, being home to many universities. Overnight at Rumah Dharma

Day 3 - Borobudur - Yogyakarta

This morning in the pre-dawn hours, you’ll head out with your guide to be at famed Borobudur at sunrise. Not only is the mist and lighting at dawn serene, it is also a special time to explore this ancient site before masses of tourists arrive later in the day. Borobudur predates Angkor Wat by 300 years and Notre Dame by 200 years. After exploring Borobudur, meet your guide and go on a cycling trip at the serenity of the nearby villages. This afternoon, after check-out from your hotel in Borobudur you’ll meet your driver and guide, and then you’ll be driven to the Prambanan Temple complex. This Hindu temple city was built between the 8th and 10th centuries to honor Shiva and it complements the Buddhist temple city of Borobudur. Overnight at the Gallery Prawitoraman

Day 4 - Yogyakarta - Bromo

This morning, begin the overland journey from Yogyakarta through the Javanese countryside to Mt. Bromo. Your journey begins with a train to Jombang East, departing at 06:45 am and arriving at 10:33 am. On arrival in Jombang you will be met by your driver and continue about 5hrs to the base of the caldera of Mt. Bromo including stops along the way.  Along the way, pass through small villages and vast rice paddies. Overnight at Jiwa Jawa Bromo Hotel

Day 5 - Bromo - Ijen

Today around 3:00am you willl have a very early start in order to catch a spectacular sunrise at Bromo’s crater- rim. You’ll be pick up with a 4WD jeep for a visit to Mt. Penanjakan where you will see the sunrise. Waking up far before dawn you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking view over the volcanic landscape during sunrise. Often there are clouds hanging in the valley underneath you and only the mountain peaks are visible making you feel like you are standing on the moon. Later you will be driven back to your hotel and enjoy the breakfast. In the afternoon you’ll be transferred to the next resort in Ijen. Overnight at Ijen Resorts & Villas

Day 6 - Iljen - Pemuteran

This midnight embark on a midnight hike to see the blue flames of Ijen Volcano. Slight after midnight time 00:00, meet your local guide and drive to the start of the trail that leads up to the active crater of Kawah Ijen volcano (two hours walking) with its famous blue-acid lake to see the blue flames. The dumorales are so hot that sulfur comes out as green vapor. The vapor is collected by a large pipe. To obtain a huge block of pure sulfur in this primitive way is an incredibly hard job. After observing, you’ll leave Ijen plateau and transferred back to your hotel. After check-out from your resort in Ijen, you’ll be driven to Ketapang, a ferry will bridge the short distance between Java and the next island, Bali. By the small Bali Strait only, one could not judge the tremendous differences between both islands. On the other side, a candi bentar (typical Balinese temple gate) marks the end of Islamic territory. You have arrived on an island where Hinduism is pervasive. From Gilimanuk, you’ll be driven to you resort in Pemuteran. Overnight at Taman Sari Bali Resort & Spa

Day 7 - Snorkelling in Pemuteran

This morning, meet a guide and take a short boat trip to Pulau Menjangan (Menjangan Island). This protected marine park offers Bali’s best snorkeling and scuba diving. Enjoy the morning snorkeling – a great way to appreciate the diverse marine life and colorful corals. After a picnic lunch on the island, return to the resort where the afternoon and evening will be yours to enjoy.

Day 8 - Pemuteran - Ubud

This morning around 10.30am meet your guide and drive north to Ubud. En route you’ll firstly visit the town of Bedugul with the well-known temple Puru Ulun Danu in Beratan Lake. Since Bedugul is located on higher attitude the climate is cooler here and there are plenty of stalls on the side of the road selling strawberry’s they are delicious and cheap a great treat when crossing this area! You’ll then continue the trip to Jatiluwih – lush, ‘postcard perfect’ rice paddies. Overnight at Tegal Sari

Day 9 - Secret Ubud

This morning, rise early and experience Ubud as few visitors do. At 5:30 AM meet your private guide and driver and transfer to the Ubud market where you will begin your sunrise walk. Vendors arrive in the wee hours of the morning to sell vegetables, food, and beautiful flower offerings that you will see all over the island. This market transforms into a commercial affair midmorning—seeing it at dawn is a unique and special experience. Then continue your walk through Ubud’s quaint lanes to the verdant dew-covered rice fields north of Ubud. After witnessing the sunrise and herons taking flight, you will have a private picnic breakfast in a farmer’s hut high up in the middle of a rice field. Relax, sip on a cup of coffee or mint tea (freshly harvested from a nearby garden) and soak in the morning ambiance. Descending through the rice fields back into Ubud, you will pass by the Monkey Forest and finish at Arma Heart Centre for lunch and a one hour massage. You will then be transferred back to your hotel.

Day 10 - Ubud Departure

This morning, you will be met your driver and transferred back to the airport in time for your flight home.

This itinerary costs from £1500 per person B&B and is based on two people sharing. During the high season (Jul-Aug) and peak season (Christmas and New Year) surcharge applies. The price includes all private transfers and domestic travel but not international flights.

International flights tend to cost between £500 and £800 per person return – do ask us for advice. Alternatively we can book the flights for you but a booking fee may apply.
