This carefully crafted 14-day Indonesia itinerary takes you from the steamy rainforests of Borneo to the cultural heartlands of Java. Begin your adventure in Jakarta before heading deep into Tanjung Puting National Park, where orangutans swing through the treetops and proboscis monkeys line the rivers. From here, fly to Java to explore its ancient temples, smoking volcanoes, and traditional villages.
You’ll wander among the sacred stupas of Borobudur, watch the sunrise over Mount Bromo, and soak up the rich rhythm of Yogyakarta — a city alive with art, batik workshops, and gamelan music. With private guides, hand-picked stays, and flexible travel throughout, this journey blends nature, culture, and adventure in a way that only Indonesia can deliver.
Welcome to Jakarta, a city of more than ten million people and a fascinating mix of cultures from across the islands. Your driver will be waiting at the airport to take you to your hotel.
Jakarta can feel chaotic at first, but there’s plenty to enjoy once you settle in — the historic port of Sunda Kelapa, the colonial charm of Café Batavia, and the lively Jalan Sabang street food scene are all worth a visit.
Stay:
Spend the day exploring old Batavia, Jakarta’s historic quarter. Start at Sunda Kelapa Harbour, where colourful wooden schooners are still loaded by hand — a glimpse of Indonesia’s seafaring past.
Wander through the nearby market streets before heading to Taman Fatahillah Square, home to the Jakarta History Museum, the Wayang Museum, and the Fine Art and Ceramics Museum.
If you have time, enjoy lunch at Café Batavia, one of the city’s most atmospheric spots.
Meals: Breakfast
After breakfast, head back to the airport for your morning flight to Pangkalan Bun, the gateway to Borneo’s jungles.
(Flight suggestion: Batik Air 06:00 – 07:15, not included in the price.)
On arrival, meet your local guide for the short transfer to Kumai, where your traditional klotok houseboat is waiting. Settle in and enjoy lunch on board as you drift along the Kumai River, before entering the winding waterways of the Sekonyer River — the heart of Tanjung Puting National Park.
Keep your eyes peeled for proboscis monkeys, macaques, and exotic birds in the treetops. If time allows, you’ll stop at Tanjung Harapan Camp for your first chance to see orangutans at the afternoon feeding (3pm).
Later, enjoy the peaceful sounds of the river at dusk, with monkeys leaping between branches as the sun sets.

60-Minute Traditional Javanese Massage
After your days on the river, today is all about slowing down. Enjoy a traditional Javanese massage — a soothing mix of deep pressure and gentle stretches — to ease away any travel tension.
The rest of the day is yours to relax, read by the pool, or explore the local area by bicycle.
Meals: Breakfast
An early start, but absolutely worth it. Head to Puntuk Setumbu Hill before dawn for a spectacular sunrise view over Borobudur, with mist curling through the valley and the distant peaks glowing pink in the morning light.
After breakfast, explore Borobudur Temple up close. Dating back to the 9th century, it’s a masterpiece of Buddhist architecture, with thousands of carved reliefs that tell stories of enlightenment and life in ancient Java.
It’s an awe-inspiring place that somehow still feels peaceful, despite its scale and fame.
Meals: Breakfast
After breakfast, cycle through the quiet lanes of Candirejo Village, where life moves at a slower pace. You’ll meet locals, see traditional crafts being made, and share a home-cooked lunch in a community pavilion.
In the afternoon, continue to Yogyakarta, Java’s artistic and cultural heart.

Take a becak (traditional pedicab) around Yogyakarta’s old city. Visit the Kraton Palace, home of the Sultan, and the Taman Sari Water Palace, a beautiful collection of old pools and courtyards.
In the afternoon, drive out to Prambanan, Indonesia’s largest Hindu temple complex. The intricate carvings and towering spires are breathtaking, especially as the light softens towards sunset.
Meals: Breakfast
This morning, step off the usual tourist trail and explore Kotagede, one of Yogyakarta’s oldest neighbourhoods. The narrow streets are lined with traditional houses and silver workshops, and you’ll see daily life unfold as you wander.
Join a batik workshop to try your hand at this ancient art form — you’ll make your own piece to take home as a keepsake. A delicious local lunch rounds off the day.
