Flights to Bhutan are limited as there is only one place in the country where international flights can land and two airlines that fly into the country. Druk Air is the national carrier and flies into Paro from Bangkok, Kathmandu, Singapore, and five airports in India including New Delhi. Bhutan Air is a private airline that flies between Paro and Bangkok, New Delhi, Kalkatta, and Kathmandu.
As not all flights depart daily and weather conditions in Bhutan often cause flight delays, we recommend allowing at least 24 hours in your connecting city to ensure that you make all connections. When you book with us, we will handle the flights into and out of Bhutan as part of your holiday. We can assist with flights to your gateway city at an extra cost so you may prefer to book those directly. We’re happy to advise as best we can and suggest having a look at our pages on flights to India and Thailand. For those wishing to visit Nepal, flights from the UK to Kathmandu are available with multiple airlines and one stop along the way including Cathay Pacific, Thai Airways, Qatar, Air India, Emirates, Singapore, Turkish, and Malaysia Airlines.
If you’ll be trekking in Bhutan, we recommend spending a few days in Nepal before flying to Bhutan to begin adjusting to the altitude and to break up the journey. Whatever your plans within Bhutan, we think it’s a great idea to combine your Bhutan holiday with another destination in Asia such as Thailand, India, Singapore, or Nepal.
Please be aware that baggage restrictions for flights into Bhutan are strict including low carry-on limits. When you book your Bhutan holiday with us, we will give you all the information you need to pack wisely and within the limits.
