This itinerary is a celebration of a very special place in Argentina. The area around Bahia Bustamante is classified as an IBA (Important Birding Area) and part of ‘Blue Patagonia’ UNESCO Biosphere Reserve: only a few places in the world house such an amount and diversity of seabirds and marine mammals.

The main goal of the owners of Bahia Bustamate is to protect this piece of paradise & share this incredible nature with guests from all over the world, aiming to promote environmental conservation & raise awareness on the protection of this fragile ecosystem.

A stay here is a truly remote, off-grid experience. Tipped by Vogue, Forbes and Mr Porter as one of the best places in the world for a digital detox, there is no mobile phone signal, little hope of using the WIFI, and even the electricity is limited, meaning that you will be totally immersed in nature! Email our specialists to learn more about this truly unique place.

Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Welcome to Buenos Aires

Welcome to the ‘Paris of Latin America’. Upon arrival at Buenos Aires’ Ezeiza Airport, you will be greeted by one of our English speaking guides who will privately escort you to Palacio Duhau, a truly iconic luxury hotel in the heart of Recoleta where you will spend 3 nights in a deluxe garden view room with daily breakfast.

The rest of the day if free.

Day 2 - Half day private city tour

You will be collected from your hotel for your three-hour morning tour visiting the most important highlights of the city of Buenos Aires. Discover the history of the Plaza de Mayo Square, wonder in awe at the oldest residential neighbourhood in Buenos Aires: San Telmo, live the original Tango in the neighbourhood of La Boca: walk along Caminito Street and enjoy watching the dancers.

Finally, contemplate the modernisation of the city whilst traveling along Puerto Madero and its exclusive docks, full of excellent restaurants and luxury hotels.

Day 3 - Private Milonga experience

In the city there are countless shows where you will be able to see professional couples dance Tango on stage, but in none of these places are you going to find real tangueros/as and locals. The Porteño goes to the Milongas, and that is where we are going to take you.

Do you want know what is the “Pitch”? Why is the music heard in “Tandas”? Why the tables are distributed around the track? Why do the dancers circulate against the clock? For three to four hours, an authentic tanguero will teach you this and more, and you will be able to take a class and enjoy Tango together with the locals.

Day 4 - Fly to Comodoro Rivadavia in Patagonia

Your off the beaten track adventure starts here!

Bahia Bustamante is a remote 100,000-acre sheep farm in south-east Argentina is the most extraordinary haven for marine wildlife, its pristine white beaches home to up to 100,000 Magellan penguins and 4,000 noisy sea lions. Huge colonies of cormorants and oystercatchers nest here, along with several native species. It’s been likened to an Argentine version of the Galapagos Islands, but being here feels even more special as it’s all private land and a real off-grid experience.

A private car will pick you up at the airport and drive you to the lodge – 3 hours trip. You will spend 3 nights here with full board and activities included.

Days 5 and 6 - Excursions at Bahia Bustamante

Historically, Bahia Bustamante was a tiny town established by pioneer Don Lorenzo Soriano to harvest seaweed and his grandson Matias now runs it as a hotel – the old workers’ houses converted into 11 guest cabins – and it’s still simple and austere, with limited electricity and cosy blankets woven from their wool. The focus is entirely on the vast empty surroundings, which you can explore on foot, by 4×4, by bike or on horseback.

Bahia Bustamante is also home to a pioneering wine project with experimental vines grown directly on the beach!

They offer a variety of superb guided activities, including boat trips to see wildlife, a 4×4 visit to a 60-million-year old petrified forest, and trekking along a dry river, whose 15m-high canyon walls were formed in the Jurassic Era.

Day 7 - Depart Bahia Bustamante and fly to Iguazu

Today a private car will pick you up at the lodge and drive you to Comodoro Rivadavia airport to catch a flight to Puerto Iguazu in Misiones, via Buenos Aires.

Upon arrival, you will be collected at the airport and driven to your hotel in the jungle. Your accommodation is the gorgeous LOI Suites Iguazu in a jnr studio with breakfast for 3 nights.

Day 8 - Argentina falls

To experience fully the Iguazu falls you have to visit the national park from both sides, Brazil and Argentina. Yesterday you enjoyed a panoramic view whilst today you will take the trails that run along the edge of the falls in Argentina.

You can also add a boat tour to get really close! This is optional, ask us if you wanted to add it.

Day 9 - Brazil falls and La Lorenza

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the park across the border (don’t forget your passport). From the Brazilian side there are gorgeous panoramic views of the lower Iguazu River and the Devil’s Gorge Canyon.

In the afternoon, you will visit La Lorenza where upon arrival, a motor boat will be waiting for you to navigate up the Paraná River. After 15 minutes you will reach the Yasy cascade, a local hidden gem. In the intimacy of this breathtaking natural landscape, you can go for a swim. Bathing here is safe and enjoyable as there are no aggressive animals in its waters. On the way back, we will free float briefly down the Paraná River as we enjoy its whirlpools and calm waters. With a view of Paraguay on our private deck, by the bank of the Paraná River, a local appetiser will be offered.

Flight home

Day 10 - Fly back home

Adios Argentina!

Today a private car will pick you up and drive you to the airport for your onward flight.

We hope you will go home with wonderful memories of exceptional adventures and wildlife encounters in a very special place in the country.

Buenos Aires
In Buenos Aires, Argentina's cosmopolitan capital, you'll find graceful plazas, tango shows, melancholic melodies, historic buildings reflecting European grandeur, trendy bars, nightlife every night of the week, steak dinners, an emerging art scene and a Latin flair.
There is so much to do and see that you could spend weeks in "the Paris of South America" but to catch the highlights, we recommend at least 3 days in this exciting city.
Las Cataratas de Iguazú
The spectacular Iguazu Falls are located within the Iguazu Falls National Park on the Northern border of the Province of Misiones. This series of 275 waterfalls is at the heart of the Paranaense Rainforest, where the Argentine, Brazil and Paraguay borders meet, and where the cities of Puerto Iguazu (Argentina), Foz do Iguaçu (Brazil) and Ciudad del Este (Paraguay) face each other.
We recommend at least 2 nights in Puerto Iguazu so you can visit both sides of the falls. They are very different and both are jaw-dropping.
Parque Nacional Los Glaciares
Perito Moreno is one of the highlights of Argentina. This vast glacier is located in the Parque Nacional Las Glaciares, close to the town of El Calafate. Whether you watch its huge ice blocks collapsing into the lake from the viewing platform or take a hiking tour on the glacier itself finishing at the only bar in the world where the ice is older than the whiskey, the glacier's scale and shades of white and blue will leave you speechless.
We recommend at least 2-3 nights in El Calafate, the gateway to the National Park.
Mendoza
Mendoza is famous for its Malbec wine and vineyards in a spectacular setting, but there is so much more to enjoy. From white water rafting, fly fishing for trout, horseback riding in the Andes at sunrise, biking through the vineyards, to climbing Mt. Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America, there are plenty of ways to experience this region. We recommend at least 3 nights in Mendoza.
Salta "La Linda"
Set at the foothills of the Andes mountain range, Salta is at an elevation of 1,152m. The city's architecture is spectacular and you can see the influences from bordering Bolivia, Paraguay and Chile. While it's worth spending at least one or two nights in Salta, build in time for the surrounding area. Take a day tour to El Cafayate and marvel at the unique mountain formations and desert colours on the way, or an overnight tour to Cachi in the Calchaquí Valley, known for its adobe houses and white colonial buildings, surrounded by snow-capped mountains.
Peninsula de Valdes
The Peninsula de Valdes, a nature reserve in Northern Patagonia, is best known for whales, sea lions and elephant seals. Probably the largest draw are the Southern Right Whales (Ballena Austral) that come to take shelter in the natural bays of the peninsula between June and November. We recommend spending at least two to three nights in Puerto Madryn, the gateway to the peninsula.
Bariloche and the Lake District
San Carlos de Bariloche, simply known as Bariloche, is situated in the foothills of the Andes and is Argentina's most popular destination for skiing and hiking. Its ever-present views of the glacial lake Nahuel Huapi are spectacular, but the area is also a foodie hub, well known for its traditional asados (BBQs), choloatiers and micro breweries.
Ushuaia
Ushuaia is the capital of the Tierra del Fuego area in the southernmost tip of South America, often nicknamed the “End of the World.” Nestled between snow-capped Andean mountains and the shores of the Beagle Channel, it is an adventure hub where guests can visit national parks, kayak and hike, crab fish, visit penguins or explore old shipwrecks. In the winter, you'll find the world's southernmost ski resort, Cerro Castor.
