In a quiet cove off Elizabeth Harbour, students from the Exuma Sailing Club (ESC) meet for a day of practice with head coach and club director, Dallas Knowles. Sailing commands fly as they dive into the water to prepare their sloops, wasting no time.
A tradition central to the early way of life in The Exumas that teaches young sailors discipline, problem solving and teamwork—with a side of friendly competition that comes with annual Regattas. Since 2013, the sailing club has been training young boys and girls of Exuma in the traditional art of Bahamian sloop sailing.
