Travelling on the Eastern & Oriental Express (E&O) is a truly unique way to experience South East Asia.
After a complete refurbishment and route change, the E & O offers guests three categories of private cabins: Pullman, State Cabin, and Presidential Suite. Pullman offer upper and lower berths while State Cabins and Presidential Suites have twin-sharing accommodation. All are fully air-conditioned with en-suite shower and toilet.
During day time the 10 Pullman Cabins are private lounges featuring a banquette style sofa. At night the seating converts to an upper and lower bed. This cabin includes a private en suite shower, washbasin, WC, hairdryer, toiletries, along with a wardrobe and in-room safe.
Each of the 20 State Cabins is configured as a private lounge during the day, with a banquette style sofa, fixed chair and one movable chair. This seating converts into two single beds at night. We think these are worth the upgrade for the extra space and comfort.
The 2 Presidential Suites are the largest cabins and come with the additional benefits of a complimentary mini-bar and an expanded drinks selection during dinner that includes champagne .
The colonial-style, teakwood Observation Car is located at the rear of the train, for sightseeing by day and cocktails and entertainment after dark. The Bar Car is open from early morning until late and a convivial hub at any time of the day.
Breakfast is served by a personal steward while lunches and dinners are taken in the Dining Car.
Complimentary WiFi is available for use in the Observation Car.
The updated routes of the E & O begin and end in Singapore and are each offered during certain months of the year:
1. Essence of Malaysia through Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi Butterworth, and Johor in 4 days / 3 nights on board
2. Wild Malaysia through Gemas, Taman Negara, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Johor in 4 days / 3 nights on board
Extra nights in Langkawi or Penang can be added before returning to Singapore. Both options include guided sightseeing.
