You arrive at Kualanamu Airport in Medan, the bustling capital of North Sumatra. Your driver will meet you and take you to Bukit Lawang, a small village along the Bahorok River and the gateway to Gunung Leuser National Park, home to Sumatran orangutans.
After checking in at Eco Lodge Bukit Lawang, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful sounds of the river and surrounding jungle.

Today, you’ll hike through the rainforest of Gunung Leuser National Park. The 3-hour trail (flexible to your pace) immerses you in a lush jungle alive with wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for wild and semi-wild orangutans swinging above you.
Other fascinating creatures may appear: gibbons, Thomas-leaf monkeys, flying squirrels, monitor lizards, and exotic insects. Return to the lodge to unwind after your jungle adventure.

After breakfast, transfer to Berastagi, passing coconut, rubber, and spice plantations along the way. At 1,300m, the town offers cool mountain air and is famous for its exotic fruits and vegetables.
Berastagi’s scenery is framed by Mount Sibayak and Mount Sinabung, and your hotel, Kalang Ulu Hotel, provides a comfortable base to soak in the local atmosphere.
