Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Welcome to Medan – Transfer to Bukit Lawang

You arrive at Kualanamu Airport in Medan, the bustling capital of North Sumatra. Your driver will meet you and take you to Bukit Lawang, a small village along the Bahorok River and the gateway to Gunung Leuser National Park, home to Sumatran orangutans.

After checking in at Eco Lodge Bukit Lawang, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful sounds of the river and surrounding jungle.

Day 2 - Trekking in Gunung Leuser National Park

Today, you’ll hike through the rainforest of Gunung Leuser National Park. The 3-hour trail (flexible to your pace) immerses you in a lush jungle alive with wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for wild and semi-wild orangutans swinging above you.

Other fascinating creatures may appear: gibbons, Thomas-leaf monkeys, flying squirrels, monitor lizards, and exotic insects. Return to the lodge to unwind after your jungle adventure.

Day 3 - Bukit Lawang - Berastagi

After breakfast, transfer to Berastagi, passing coconut, rubber, and spice plantations along the way. At 1,300m, the town offers cool mountain air and is famous for its exotic fruits and vegetables.

Berastagi’s scenery is framed by Mount Sibayak and Mount Sinabung, and your hotel, Kalang Ulu Hotel, provides a comfortable base to soak in the local atmosphere.

Day 4 - Mount Sibayak – Lake Toba / Samosir Island

Start your day with a trek up Mount Sibayak, one of Sumatra’s most accessible volcanoes. The 1-hour climb winds through lush forest and rocky mountain vegetation, ending at a crater with spectacular sulphur vents.

Later, transfer to Samosir Island in Lake Toba, the cultural heart of the Batak people. Explore traditional villages, ornate Batak houses, and ancient tombs along the lake.

Day 5 - Samosir Island Exploration

Today is at your leisure, with the option of a boat trip to Sigapiton village and Binangalom Waterfall. Witness local village life, swim under the waterfall, and enjoy lunch on the boat. Later, visit Tomok village to see the ancient tomb of King Sidabutar, the first Batak ruler of the island.

Day 6 - Lake Toba – Free Day

Spend a relaxing day exploring Samosir at your own pace or simply enjoying the serenity of Lake Toba.

Day 7 - Lake Toba – Yogyakarta, Java

After check-out, transfer to Silangit Airport for your flight to Yogyakarta, Java, via Jakarta. Welcome to Java, the cultural heart of Indonesia. On arrival, your driver will take you to your hotel for a well-deserved rest.

Day 8 - Borobudur & Candirejo Village

Explore Borobudur, the world’s largest Buddhist monument, standing majestically on a hilltop. Wander among stone reliefs depicting daily life and Buddhist teachings from a millennium ago.

In the afternoon, visit Candirejo Village for a hands-on cultural experience: ride through rural lanes, watch traditional handicrafts, join a gamelan music session, and enjoy a communal Javanese meal.

Day 9 - Countryside Bike Tour & Prambanan Temple

Cycle through villages and rice fields around Yogyakarta, visiting family-run cottage industries producing tofu, tempe, cassava, and bricks. Later, discover Prambanan Temple, a magnificent Hindu temple with towering spires and intricate reliefs narrating the Ramayana epic.

Day 10 - Yogyakarta by Becak

Explore Yogyakarta’s historic heart by pedicab. Visit the Kraton Palace, Taman Sari Water Palace, and a wayang kulit (shadow puppet) and batik workshop to see traditional Javanese arts up close.

Day 11 - Yogyakarta – Mount Bromo, Java

Take the train to Mojokerto, then transfer to Bromo region, part of East Java. Here, dramatic landscapes and the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park await your exploration.

Day 12 - Sunrise at Mount Bromo

Rise early for a jeep ride to Penanjakan viewpoint for sunrise. Watch the first light illuminate Java’s volcanic peaks, then drive into the caldera and climb to the rim of active Mount Bromo. Return to your hotel for a well-earned breakfast.

Day 13 - Bromo – Ijen / Banyuwangi

Transfer east across Java to Banyuwangi, known as the Sunrise of Java, surrounded by mountains, forests, and ocean. This tranquil region is your gateway to Ijen Crater.

Day 14 - Ijen Leisure Day

Enjoy a day at leisure in Banyuwangi, soaking up the natural beauty and local culture, or prepare for tomorrow’s early-morning crater adventure.

Day 15 - Ijen Crater – Pemuteran, Bali

Trek up Ijen Crater to see the striking turquoise sulphur lake and miners at work. Afterwards, transfer by ferry to Pemuteran, northwest Bali, your base for diving and snorkeling near Menjangan Island.

Day 16 - Snorkelling at Menjangan Island

Board a boat to Menjangan Island within the Menjangan Marine National Park. Snorkel among coral reefs teeming with marine life, enjoy a picnic lunch on the boat, and return to your hotel.

Day 17 - Pemuteran – Ubud via Bali’s Interior

Travel inland, visiting Munduk Waterfall, Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, and the Jatiluwih rice terraces, celebrated for the UNESCO-recognised subak irrigation system. Continue to Ubud, Bali’s artistic and cultural heart.

Day 18 - Ubud – Cooking Class at Dewa Jero

Experience Balinese life and cooking in Keliki Village with Dewa and his family. Explore spice gardens, learn to prepare traditional dishes over a wood-fired stove, and enjoy a communal meal surrounded by the family’s temple and gardens.

Day 19 - Ubud – Sanur

Drive to Sanur, stopping at Tirta Empul Temple, Gunung Kawi, and the famous Tegalalang rice terraces. Check in at your hotel for a relaxing afternoon.
