There are essentially three room types and each can be found on the different floors of the hotel. Each floor has its own theme highlighting one of the geographic areas of Nepal. Rooms on the Terai levels highlight the southern, wildlife-filled region so you'll find warm earth tones, murals of spotted deer and other wildlife. Pahal levels embrace the hills of Nepal with traditional wooden furniture and art, showcasing Newari culture. The Himalayas are represented on the Himal levels where rich colours bring to mind prayer flags and mountain skies.
Studio Suites are available with twin or king beds and offer plenty of space for two. Festival Suites are only available with king beds and some of these have a bathtub so if this is important to you, please ask when reserving. Platinum Suites have a separate sitting area, a half bath, and a large bathroom that includes a jacuzzi-style tub. These are comfortably spacious enough for three adults.
On the top floors of the hotel under a triangular skylit roof that resembles a mountain peak, you'll find an indoor swimming pool and the South Col Bar. Mountain climbing tools, prayer flags, and other elements of the decor call to mind South Col, the gateway to Everest's summit. Karka-La Restaurant serves a mix of Nepali and international cuisine.
Varnabas Museum Hotel is located about 15-25 minutes from the Kathmandu airport in one of the city's quieter areas. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance.
