The most elegant option in Kathmandu, Dwarika's Hotel is an exceptional property.
In all rooms, you'll find handmade furnishings, organic linens, ample natural light, and plenty of space to relax. Soaps are made in-house as are the freshly baked cookies that appear in your room from time to time. Deluxe rooms all face the courtyard, as is customary in Newari homes. Sunset views can be spectacular if the weather cooperates. The layouts vary and rooms are set with either a king or two single beds. The larger Junior Suites have a king bed and a day bed. Antiques, local pottery, and brass ornaments showcase some of Nepal's traditional artwork. The expansive in-demand Executive Suites offer a large daybed, king bed, terrace, a complimentary mini bar, and more. These often book well in advance and the hotel is now building an additional wing in order to offer more of these elegant suites.
There are three restaurants and a bar on-site. The Krishnarpan is open only for dinner and serves set menus of between 6 and 22 courses. Reservations are required for these gastronomic journeys through Nepali culture. Toran Restaurant serves a mix of international and local fare in the courtyard and its indoor space. Japanese fine dining is available at Mako's during lunch and dinner. Fusion Bar serves drinks and light bites through the afternoon and evening within the former owner's cottage and poolside.
Dwarika's Hotel is approximately 15 minutes drive from the Kathmandu airport. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance and it's a 15-to-20 minute walk to Pashupatinath Temple. The Thamel area is about a 15-20 minute taxi ride away.
