River house is an exclusive sole-use accommodation, which has its total privacy, still the Owners House is in walking distance and can be an ideal combination should you wish to book for a larger party.

River House is situated in a private concession in the southeast corner of Madikwe Game Reserve, located in the North West Province of South Africa.
Madikwe Game Reserve is currently the fifth largest game reserve and is also one of the lesser-known parks in South Africa. This makes it a hidden gem as it is regarded as one of the best conservation areas in Africa and offers the Big 5 in a 75.000 hectare. The land where Madikwe now stands was previously used as farming land. The poor soil meant that farming was mostly unsuccessful and the South African government then decided that it would best be used as a national park to help economically uplift the disadvantaged area. Madikwe Game Reserve is home to the big five – elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard, amongst 66 mammal species like giraffe, hippo, cheetah and hyena, and you are also likely to spot some of them during your game drives, as well as the highly endangered African Wild Dog. In 1994 a small pack of six wild dogs where introduced into the park and today, despite of all odds, Madikwe has a thriving wild dog population with three hunting packs roaming in the park. The dogs are somewhat used to game vehicles, which gives you a great opportunity to see them and take some fantastic photographs.
River House can be reached by a daily air-shuttle from Johannesburg International Airport to Madikwe Game Reserve, the duration is approximately 50 minutes. Upon arrival at the Madikwe East airstrip, your Morukuru Team will be waiting to take you to your private villa, this will take about 30 minutes and is already your first game drive.
