The Mirante do Gavião Amazon Lodge is located in Novo Airão – the last city accessible by land, 180km northwest of Manaus, in the state of Amazonas. It is a luxury lodge and perfect if you want an authentic experience in the jungle.
The panoramic view of the Rio Negro, with its dark waters and dense vegetation, marks the scene where traditional tourism is left behind and the remote and preserved regions of the Amazon are revealed to the guests.
Despite all this breadth, much of what is experienced in the vast Amazon plains is the observation of nature from the ground or the river. The harpy eagle, the largest bird of prey in Brazil and one of the largest in the world, also lives here.
The lodge provides several viewpoints, some reaching more than 15 meters high, so that you can enjoy nature sightings and also beautiful sunsets on the Rio Negro and the islands of the Anavilhanas Archipelago.
Initially, the lodge was designed to meet the embarkation and disembarkation of the operations of the boats of the Katerre Ecotourism Expedition. Then turned into a higher end lodge, with few accommodations, the Mirante do Gavião Amazon Lodge went from a point of support to a protagonist and one of the better lodges in the Amazon.
The lodge features an outstanding restaurant, the Camu-Camu, led by Chef Debora Shornik.
The Mirante do Gavião promotes experiences integrated with the jungle and its people. This ideal is manifest in the architecture, landscaping, gastronomy, services provided by local people, tours and the way it integrates authenticity and regional cultural elements with the international hospitality scene.
Since August 2014, the team has been made up of more than 45 people from the community itself, who have received training to provide excellent service in the standard of luxury hospitality, but without losing the smile and cordiality, so natural to the Amazonian people!
