Arroyo Verde is a wonderful family run estancia recommended if you want to include fly fishing, horse riding, hiking and bird watching whilst in the beautiful Lake District of Argentina, away from the tourists crowds.

Arroyo Verde, a family owned and managed fly fishing lodge on the world renowned river Traful, is located within the Nahuel Huapi National Park in northern Patagonia and just an hour and a half from the local airport, San Carlos de Bariloche.

It was one of the first private estancias (ranch) to open its doors to anglers from across the globe.

Nestling in the Traful valley Arroyo Verde, named after one of the Traful's tributaries, has for more than 25 years played host to discerning anglers of all ages and abilities and to those seeking adventure in comfort.

The amazing river Traful which runs for ten miles through the unspoilt beauty of Arroyo Verde is home to land-locked salmon, brown and rainbow trout.

The surrounding Andes Mountain Range make for breathtaking horse-riding and hiking excursions.

What makes Arroyo Verde so special is that it is still home for the Larivière family who take an active part in preserving this unique establishment and maintaining its high standards of hospitality.

Even if you don't want to fly fish, we still recommend it if you want to stay away from Bariloche and live an authentic Patagonian experience, taking part in many activities surrounded by the pristine nature of the region:

Horse riding - All riders beginners or experienced can choose between easy trail riding or more advanced mountain riding. The rides can be for a few hours, half day or full day depending on your' preferences and experience.

Hiking - With innumerable trails to choose from you can explore the ranch. A gentle hike down the river or more energetic ones around the lake and up the mountains.

Bird watching - The Andean condor and the Magellan woodpecker are just two of the many species of birds that call Arroyo Verde home. In the company of specialised guides you can roam the area in search of these feathered friends. Half day or whole day trips can be organized.

Photography workshops - For groups of up to 14, photography workshops under the tutelage of professional photographers such as the brothers Eliseo and Isaias Miciu and Angela Copello have proved to be very successful.

The stays include full board and all activities.
