Pristine island in the remote Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll and one of our favourite surf spots in the Maldives!
There are a variety of styles of villas and suites, all of which have a private pool with the exception of the charming Garden Villas nestled in the centre of the island. The Beach Villas and Suites are very popular, and a few of them can be connected to create a double villa suitable for a family. With just 122 villas, half of which are overwater, the island is not overcrowded. The overwater 'Ocean Villas' are our top recommendation for couples, being very private and with direct lagoon access.
There are 8 restaurants on the island, including an overwater restaurant, teppanyaki grill, main buffet restaurant with changing themes, BBQ beach restaurant, Turkish cafe and even a wine and cheese island!
The water activities and sports at Ayada are standout - as well as offering kayaking, diving and motorised watersports they have an excellent house reef so you can snorkel straight from the island at your leisure, and the surfing is exceptional in this region. Although surfing in the Maldives is typically best October - April, its actually possible to reach a good site from Ayada year-round.
