Highlights of Russia

Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Welcome to Moscow

You will start your Classic Russia Tour in the capital city of Moscow. Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport by your private driver and guide and will be taken to your city centre hotel. This evening, we recommend you go for a cocktail at the top of the Peking Hotel in their Time Out Bar, for magnificent views over the city!

Day 2 - Get under the skin

This morning, you will be met by your private guide and taken on a comprehensive tour of the city and its elaborate metro system. There will be plenty of photo-opportunities today, especially as you’ll visit the famous Red Square, Kremlin and Armoury Museum on your guided walking tour. A full, but exhilarating introduction to Russia!

Day 3 - Walk through history

After breakfast this morning, your guide will take you on a fascinating tour of the Novodevichy Convent and Heroes’ Cemetery by car, which has some spectacular views over the city. This is a powerful and informative morning spent getting under the skin of those who contributed to Russian history. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore Moscow under your own steam.

Day 4 - Soak it all up

Spend your final morning in Moscow exploring the Tretyakov Gallery with the help of your english-speaking guide. After your culture fix, you will be taken to the station to catch your train to St Petersburg. The journey from Moscow – St Petersburg take approximately 4.5 hours. Upon arrival in St Petersburg, you will be met by your private driver and guide and taken to your hotel which is located near to the iconic Hermitage museum.

Day 5 - Wake up in one of the most beautiful cities on earth!

After breakfast at your hotel this morning, you will be met by your private guide and taken on an introductory walking tour of this picturesque city. You will visit the famous sites of St Isaac’s Cathedral, Yusupov’s Palace and Peter & Paul Fortress (by car). This evening, we recommend you go for a drink at the panoramic bar of the Bellevue Brasserie of the Kempinski Hotel. The city is magic at night!

Day 6 - An impressive art collection!

Your private guide will take you on a tour of the Hermitage a.k.a the Winter Palace this morning, home to the second largest art collection in the world. This historic museum contains masterpieces of Western European art. Your 3 hour guided tour may not suffice, so we recommend staying behind after your guide leaves, to soak it all up…

Day 7 - Day at leisure

Today is completely at leisure for you to explore St Petersburg as you wish. We recommend you take a walking tour of the city and stop at the main highlights as you go; Kazan Cathedral on Nevsly Prospekt, the Faberge Museum, Saviour on the Spilled Blood, Art Square and the Russian Museum. If energy levels permit, we recommend climbing to the top of St Isaac’s Cathedral for a pretty impressive photo opportunity!

Day 8 - From palace to plane!

Today marks the end of your Russian adventure, but before you head home, you will stop en-route at the extravagant Summer Palace of Catherine the Great, in the Tsar’s village of Pushkin. What lies behind this decadent facade does not disappoint. The Amber Room is pretty spectacular! You will then continue onwards to the airport in time for your flight back to the UK.
