Once a carriage house with staff quarters, now a collection of carefully appointed rooms and neighbouring residences.
Muntri Mews was designed to provide contemporary hospitality with a nod to the building's past. Marble floors and wooden window frames and doors were salvaged from the original building and around town; 19th and 20th century portraits hang from the walls; and a few reminders of former equine residents such as bridles and saddles decorate some of the rooms. All rooms within the Mews building have two queen-sized beds placed side-by-side and a large sitting area.
Across the road are two additional residences housing Family and Executive Family rooms. Family rooms can sleep four people with two king-sized beds separated by a partition. A screen separates the beds from a sitting area and a small outdoor space sits off the back of the room. Executive Family rooms span two floors with a master suite on the top level and two additional king sized beds on the lower level along with a living and dining area. These residences have traditional airwells and one maintains a Chinese water feature. Family rooms can be reserved individually or an entire residence can be booked for a larger group.
Mews Café serves Malay cuisine and a few Western favourites all prepared with locally sourced ingredients. On Saturday evenings, live music can be enjoyed in the café's garden.
Muntri Mews is within the heart of George Town's core heritage zone, approximately a 40-minute drive from Penang International Airport. Harmony Street, the Goddess of Mercy Temple, and an array of restaurants, street food vendors, and other highlights of George Town are minutes from the hotel on foot.
