Rainforest retreat built into the hills of Langkawi a short distance from the white sands of Pantai Tengah
All rooms have private balconies looking into the rainforest, an indoor seating area, and a kitchenette. Studios can comfortably sleep two with a king or two single beds. The incredibly spacious suites have a king bed in the bedroom and a large open-air balcony with a wooden bathtub and views of the rainforest and Andaman Sea. Cottages offer two en-suite bedrooms, one with a king bed and the other with two singles. One cottage is set across a single-story while the other spans multiple levels.
An open-air yoga pavilion can be used by guests; yoga mats are available upon request and private instruction can be arranged. A variety of massages and treatments are on offer at Amaala Spa. Cookery classes can be arranged with advance notice as can a visit to the hotel's organic farm with a farm-to-table cookery class or chef's demonstration. A vegan café, Pegaga, serves a plant-based menu of local and international fare.
Ambong Ambong Rainforest Retreat is located near Pantai Tengah, approximately 20 minutes drive from Langkawi International Airport. A number of restaurants and shops can be accessed on foot including Unkaizen Japanese Restaurant which is on the property but separately managed. Rimba at the sister property of Ambong Pool Villas is also available to guests along with Rimba Sky, a rooftop bar ideal for sunsets. The closest beach is approximately 15 minutes walking distance from the hotel. Shuttle service is available within a limited region and guests can contact reception to request pick up when they are ready to return to the hotel.
Please note that all guests at Ambong Ambong must be at least 12-years-old and that most rooms can only be accessed by stairs. Transportation up and down the hill to the main building is available between 8am and midnight.
Be sure to keep your eyes on the trees from your balcony or anywhere on the property. Dusky langurs are often quietly enjoying a meal amongst the leaves!
