Travelling on Jamaica’s South Coast, you’ll discover a treasure chest of coves and bays, where the Caribbean meets sandy and sometimes rocky shores. A mixture of dark and white sand stretches, rocky coves, fishermen’s enclaves and secluded swimming spots, the South Coast’s shores promise a range of possibilities. A favourite beach community of both locals and visitors alike is Treasure Beach (a spot that surely lives up to its name).

Treasure Beach is a six-mile stretch of coral-coloured and sometimes black sands, private coves and rocky shores. For travellers who want to discover the South Coast’s vibrant local culture and people and are in search of quiet beaches, a visit to one of Treasure Beach’s main bays – Billy’s, Calabash, Fort Charles (also known as Starve Gut) Great and Frenchman’s – is a must.

In Calabash Bay, friendly fishermen dock their brightly painted canoes and unload the day’s catch. Visitors swarm, waiting patiently at beachfront cafes and stands, so they can be first to enjoy it – soon to be seasoned and grilled to perfection. Other uniquely Jamaican dishes, such as curried goat, jerked meat and pumpkin soup are also available at roadside stands at Treasure Beach’s public beaches. All of lovely, laid-back stretches are well-suited for swimming, snorkelling, biking, hiking, and of course, the mellow vibes of kicking back in the sun with a cold Red Stripe in hand.

Day 2 - Treasure Beach

Spend the day unwinding by the tranquil coastline with the family and enjoying beach walks. Treasure Beach is one of the South Coast’s top spots, with a six-mile stretch of coral-coloured and occasionally black sands, private coves and rocky shores. The four main bays are Billy, Calabash, Great and Frenchman’s – you can explore them all!

Day 3 - Floyd's Pelican Bar

This afternoon we suggest you enjoy a one-of-a-kind Caribbean experience at Floyd’s Pelican Bar near Treasure Beach, Jamaica. Our favourite way to do this is so that you are cruising home at sunset,  enjoying the beautiful sun sinking into the Caribbean sea.

Perched on a remote sandbar, this rustic haven is accessible solely by boat. Crafted from driftwood and palm fronds, it exudes an authentic island charm. Originally envisioned by owner Floyd as a fisherman’s retreat, it has since become popular with tourists.

Enjoy Red Stripe beer or rum cocktail, relish fresh seafood (leave enough time for this to be prepared on island time), and bask in the tranquillity of the Caribbean sea. Leave your mark on this rustic treasure by having your name carved into the wood surrounded by local art and memorabilia, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Day 4 - Day at leisure or Safari Boat trip

Today you can simply relax, or, if adventure calls….

Black River Safari tour takes you 45 minutes up Jamaica’s longest navigable river to see the local crocodiles and the birds that flock to the tremendous mahogany trees lining the river. You’ll learn why it’s called the Black River, hear of its rich history and uses even in modern day.

Day 5 - Waterfall Adventure

Begin your journey through the 2.5-mile Bamboo Avenue which is a bamboo canopy. You can stop at fruit stalls and try fresh coconut water, visit Middle Quarters village for spicy peppered shrimp. Then, take a tractor-drawn ‘jitney’ to YS Falls, enjoying picturesque landscapes and cascading waterfalls.
Experience YS Falls’ iconic seven-tiered waterfall, featured in James Bond’s “Thunderball.” It offers thrilling activities like ziplining, river tubing, and rope swings, perfect for adventurers. Alternatively, relax in the natural spring-fed swimming pool or bask in the sun amid breathtaking views. The picnic area, set amidst lush greenery, invites family outings or romantic dates, with ample picnic tables for everyone to enjoy. It offers an array of activities for families, couples, and groups, ensuring an unforgettable visit in a stunning natural setting.

Day 6 - Joy Spence Appleton Estate Experience

Celebrate the spirit of Jamaica and one of the world’s first female Master Blenders at the Joy Spence Appleton Estate Experience. Join the tour chronicling the distilling process and one of the world’s celebrated rums and take the opportunity to make your own brew and pick up a few bottles from the gift shop to take home.

In the heart of Jamaica’s lush Nassau Valley, the Appleton Estate awaits with its Joy Spence Appleton Estate Rum Experience. This immersive tour takes you through the rich history of Appleton Estate and the “Cane to Cocktail” rum-making process. Explore a theatre, observation tower with valley views, distillery, aging house, and tasting rooms. See, touch, and taste the art of crafting Appleton Estate Jamaica rums. Day 7 - Lovers Leap

Take trip to Lovers Leap to see the breathtaking views of the horizon and hear the legend of their very own Jamaican Romeo and Juliet. A cliff with a legendary story of star-crossed lovers who leaped hand in hand to escape a jealous plantation owner. It’s now home to the Western Hemisphere’s highest lighthouse. The spot has become a popular local hotspot, especially on Sunday nights, featuring live music, dancing, and local cuisine like Fish Tea and Red Stripe. Located in Yardley Chase, St. Elizabeth, a short drive from Treasure Beach.
