Getting to BVI

Getting to BVI

Beginning June 1, 2023, American Airlines will begin daily direct flights from Miami International Airport (MIA) to the BVI (EIS).

Alternate options include connecting flights from the United States, through airports near the BVI streamlining the travel process for your clients. Connecting flights can be booked through San Juan (SJU) Puerto Rico, Charlotte Amalie (STT) St. Thomas, VC Bird International (ANU) Antigua, or Princess Juliana (SXM) St. Maarten.

Other direct flights to the BVI from North America are most common through San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU). There are frequently connecting flights offered via Cape Air, Silver Airways, interCaribbean Airlines and LIAT, with pre-scheduled service offered by various charter airlines.

BVI’s main airport is Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport, Beef Island (EIS). From the airport one crosses the Queen Elizabeth Bridge which connects Beef Island to Tortola in just five minutes.

Additional airports located in the BVI are Taddy Bay Airport on Virgin Gorda (VIJ) and Auguste George Airport located in Anegada (NGD). Virgin Gorda, and Anegada are available via air and also by ferry; while Peter Island and Jost Van Dyke are only available by boat and helicopter.

Most private island resorts will arrange water taxi transportation for their guests arriving to the BVI. Boat charters can be arranged via St. Thomas (USVI), Road Town or Beef Island.

Additionally, some have charter flight options for your most discerning guests.

Those arriving by their own boat have a choice of Ports of Entry at Tortola’s Road Town and West End; Jost Van Dyke, Great Harbour; and Virgin Gorda’s St. Thomas Bay and Gun Creek. All entering vessels must clear BVI Customs and Immigration immediately upon arrival into the territory, and retain a valid passport and boat registration papers.
